About Adam Beatty | University Physics Tutorials

Hi there! It's me, Adam

To start - thanks for checking my Patreon page out. Thank you for thinking of helping me produce more!

Who Am I?  An Irish guy with a physics and maths background who’s employed as a military engineer. I split my spare time between distance running, guitar and teaching others what I’ve learned. I make tutorial videos and PDFs like this one: Solving the Time Independent Schrodinger Equation!

What I Do / Why Support Me? Supporting University Physics Tutorials on Patreon will allow me to make pointed physics & maths video tutorial lessons and PDF-based worked solutions. I’m currently working on Quantum Mechanics. Though probably impossible to describe my content at ‘cool’ I know it’s been a life-saver for thousands over the years! (BTW my life savers have been Patrick JMT and Sal Kahn.)

Why Online Content? Tim Ferriss advocates automation. This is exactly why I now steer away from grinds or live tutoring. It’s simply too inefficient. I could never help enough people doing that. It’s a horrible feeling to be giving a lesson again, knowing that your best effort is in the past. This happens to me regularly. I’d rather have recorded my best effort, play it on video today and be there to take questions after…

What’s My Teaching Goal? I like to consider myself a hard worker. It’s my goal that this hard work and learning can help others out: making their study quicker & less painful while massively improving grades & understanding. I have begun collecting my lessons in print using Latex, to provide a students’ tutorial manual to complement textbooks & lectures. The manual will focus on understanding key points and provide step-by-step worked solutions to complement the video lessons.

Why I’m Looking For Support? I’ve seen how useful my content has been to others. I’d really love to be able to produce content & help out on a full-time basis. So it’s got to pay my bills! At the moment I spend so much time trying to work out how to get paid to do this. I’ve tried monetising my content but that’s been unsuccessful – partly because I don’t think it should be monetised!!!! I’ve over 600 free YouTube videos (of varying age and quality). Strangely the advertising on YouTube actually helps me more than my paid content!!! If that’s not a sign then I don’t know what is!

Supporting me would be a huge help to allow me concentrate on producing great content and to make more frequent videos. What this means to you is that your helping me will help to improve the lives and education of students worldwide.

How Can You Help? This page is where you can support what I do on University Physics Tutorials on a per-video or per-PDF basis (currently 1-2 per month).

Thank you for any and all support you can provide
. I’ve no doubt that you understand and appreciate the hours required to produce a single video or solution. Help me do more!

Happy studies!

Adam

I wish I hadn't been so boring in the video below. It's not at all like how I teach in person but I was experimenting with 'being professional'!! That said I'm very proud of the content. It's part of a much longer set of videos and worked-problems!
