Born in Brazil on September 12th, 2001, by the age of 5 I was already playing Half-Life, Counter-Strike, and some racing games, and as I grew up my fascination with the first-person shooter genre grew exponentially. In 2013, I downloaded the Unity editor and started messing around with it for fun. 3 years later I got into modding, and started taking game development more seriously.

In June/July 2017, I started working on the Half-Life: Source Revival project, a mod for the Source SDK Base 2013 Singleplayer upcoming beta, and in late 2018, I started working on my first fully fledged game project. After years of playing the same genre of games, meticulously studying them, watching harsh reviews of FPS games on YouTube, and messing around and getting to know the Unity API, I made Coliseu, as a school project to pass my final year of high school.

Due to being a school project, Coliseu was made in my native language - Portuguese. It came with a manual - also in Portuguese - which I later translated into English, with some "minor" changes (less puffed up, more comical). The game itself couldn't be translated due to me losing access to the project files for the game, and thus any bugs present in it are there to stay, sadly. However, I do hold the game's game design very proudly, especially in how the difficulty is defined by the player through the level up system. The player can make enemies one hit kill, or he can make them barely scratch the protagonist's armor. It's all dictated by the player's choices. And even if the player makes the enemies kill him in one hit, the game doesn't stop being fair, as all enemies are projectile based, and through dodging said projectiles and predicting when the enemies are going to attack, the player can avoid taking damage entirely. If the player gets hit, they know it's their fault, and so the game never gets frustrating - but it's still not a walk in the park. It provides challenge, without being unfair. There's no "That enemy shouldn't have hit me!" in Coliseu, only "If only I had stepped to the side!".

Half-Life: Source Revival nowadays barely has any of the content it used to have back when it first started. However, the mod is still yet to be finished, and as they say, life eventually catches up. You can change this by becoming a Patreon - just a dollar a month will really help me out. If every person in the mod's Discord server gave me a single dollar, I'd make over 1.404 dollars a year. That's 5.294,62 reais! I'd be out of this country and in a better one in no time. Think of it like I do: the less money I have, the more time I have to spend trying to get money; time that could instead be spent on getting the mod done and improving lackluster parts of it. So please, if you can, help me out financially. It really means a lot.
