About Amanda McDonald Ramsay

Hi - I'm a writer and researcher, currently based in the UK in a lovely city called Bristol. I'm a social media and word fiend. When I'm not writing-up my thesis (I'm a PhD candidate at the University of Bristol*) I'm working on my first novel.

As well as over ten years as a newspaper reviewer and commentator on the BBC, I've worked in Westminster, local government and the media.

Now it's time to be more creative.

Patrons will be supporting my writing journey, from $2 a month, towards my PhD award and into novel-writing.

All patrons will receive access to locked posts and first-sight draft chapters of my first novel. (If you prefer to purely support, please just bask in the warm glow of generous philanthropy! That is, ignore the site content if you so wish.)

A-Listers 🌟supporting with $10 a month or more may be part of an iterative writing ✍️ process, if they so wish - sharing ideas 💡 on how the story and characters could develop. An online experiment, through their AAA pass into my writing life.

Thank you for reading. It would be humbling to have you along for the journey.

*Located within the Faculty of Social Science and Law, my research focuses on localism and neighbourhood planning, and more generally the Big Society, British social policy and politics. My research is funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) but only for three years and this writing-up time is not funded.
