I am raising funds in order to purchase land for establishing an ecological system of forests, and meadows in the foot hills of the North Carolina Appalachians. The land will host a biologically diverse population of indigenous, and naturalized food bearing perennial and anual plants, fiber crops, mycelium, bees, and live stock.
In the first season it's planed to acquire 3 or more acres for start up. In the following five to ten years the project is anticipated to grow to 100 acres or more. Anual yields are estimated to gross around $50,000 - $100,000/acre. As a not for profit, Bearfoot Gardens intends to invest or donate profits, and materials to community projects, and to assist low-income houselds with food security. Bearfoot Gardens will also  operate as a live stock rescue, and support ecological rehabilitation.
A goal of $30,000 has been set to cover start up costs in purchase land, tools, seeds/starts, work vehicle, and other first season needs.
Thank you for your interest. Your support is greatly appreciated.

Raw Land in NC can range in price from $2500 to $5000 per acre. Some package deals can be found for better prices. My first goal is to acuire 3 acres of raw or pasture land, ideally with a head spring on the property. From 3 acres the roots of the food forest can be established.  More land will be purchased as needs, and funding expand.
