Thank you for checking out my Patreon page!

First, a bit about myself...as hinted at (SPOILER ALERT!) by my channel name/SNS name, I am a U.S. Marine Corps veteran (Active Duty 1988-1993, USMC Reserves 1996-1998) and have been a student of Japanese martial arts since my early teens. I have been living in Japan since 1998, which is the fulfillment of a goal I set for myself from the instant I was made aware of the existence of Japan and its history and culture, especially its traditional martial arts thanks to the mini-series adaptation of James Clavell's "Shogun".

I started my YouTube channel back in 2008, but really didn't have the gear and software to put out decent videos until several years later. In recent years I have tried to focus my videos on covering the things and places about Japan that have not been covered to death by so many others...the places off the beaten path that the short term visitor rarely sees.

In the past couple of years I have become interested in hiking and exploring Japan's natural beauty...

...but that takes money. Which is why I have created my Patreon page. I want to showcase outdoor adventures, places off the beaten, and other topics both Japan- and non-Japan related. To do that properly requires both investing in the required gear, and paying for things such as train/highway tolls, entrance/camping fees, etc.

That is where *YOUR awesome self* comes in. By becoming a Patreon you are both helping me make the kind of content *you* want see and that I enjoy making, and will be helping me pay it forward to others in the future. We are all on this planet together, and it becomes a little better and a little smaller when we help each other out... Your assistance is most appreciated!
