Music
Voted Best Musician in Missoula Independent’s 2018 Readers’ Poll, a music-goer once told Keys "You're in every band that's good.” Caroline is a serial collaborator who has parked herself in Montana for 20 years.  She has enjoyed a career so far playing dusty Montana dives, folk festivals in China, and opening sets for the likes of Dwight Yoakam, Jerry Douglas, The Lumineers, and others. You may have caught her in Stellarondo, The Best Westerns, The LaneSplitters, Broken Valley Roadshow, Worst Feelings, or with Izaak Opatz.

Caroline has 15 years experience providing music for private events. Depending on your needs she can provide a duo, trio, or full dance band. Get in touch!

Teaching

Caroline facilitates project-based learning and creative workshops for children and adults. She also is available as an on-set teacher for film and television.

As Poet-in-Residence Caroline has served hundreds of children on The Flathead Reservation, Ft Belknap Reservation, at Woodman's two-room schoolhouse, and at various schools in Havre and Missoula, Montana. She has a long-standing relationship with Sussex School in Missoula, where she has worked in various capacities, including music teacher. Annually Caroline volunteers at Tamarack Grief Resource Center's bereavement camp.

Caroline holds a BA in English Literature/Creative Writing from University of Montana and an MFA in Creative Writing from Queens University of Charlotte, NC. She has completed Orff Schulwerk Level 1.

Artist Residencies

Is it the space to create new work or is it the fellowship with and influence of other artists that's "The" thing about a residency?  I don't know.  But I try to make space for one every other year, or if I'm lucky, every year.  Dedicated time and space to be in the studio and convive with artists of different disciplines is a vital part of my practice.

Caroline's ukulele gave me the chills
the ukulele sent shivers down my spine
it sent chills to my feet
I felt it in my ear
I felt it in my nose
I felt it in my thighs
I felt it in my shoulders
I felt it in my biceps
I felt it in my forearms
I felt it in my wrist
I felt it in my ankles
Caroline's ukulele will give you the chills
