So hello, this is the thing where I tell you who the hell I am and why it might be worth giving your hard-earned moola for!

I'm Greg and I'm a video creator running the channel Caution Phase.

I've been making Films for a while, but recently I've shifted my focus to more analytical videos about games - although I've struggled to keep them up since the process of playing, research, writing, VO & editing takes a lot of time, effort and perseverance when you're a one-person video machine.

Patreon gives the channel a chance to grow and allow a bigger focus on quality rather than quantity, and without compromise for the sake of financial stability.

What you'd be supporting:

Editorial and case study videos about Games
These will be a more in-depth critical analysis' of the latest game that everyone's talking about, subjects I think warrants more discussion, or maybe a bit of investigative journalism. I strive to go beyond what you usually see with Reviews & Impressions to make something that's informative and creates an interesting discussion point, even if you disagree with it.

So... any questions?

Why Patreon?
The reason I'm using Patreon is due to how the usual system for gaining ad revenue works with online content. Typically, unless I upload daily or these videos muster up an insane number of views, most figures I'd likely get any time soon would be way less than what I'd need it to be if I'm to dedicate the time and effort I want to give. That and YouTube's tendency to side with advertisers over their own users when it comes to fair use means the odds would be severely stacked against me under the traditional system.

How come it's per-creation and not monthly?
Sometimes, I have trouble getting stuff out... this kind of work is a difficult compromise between taking the time to make quality stuff and actually just getting stuff out. Making it per-edited video means I'll have a financial stake that'll help kick me into shape and actually finish something than spend ages staring at a text doc and giving up on those moments where I'm struggling to put ideas on a page.

Also, it would feel wrong to receive money for no work. You are investing for something in return, so it's only right that I make sure you're getting what you paid for...

Good news is that I usually won't release more than 2 videos a month (mainly for the sake of my own sanity), and you'll be able to set a monthly limit - so if I release more stuff than you can budget for, you won't be charged any extra.

I like your stuff but I can't become a Patron for *reasons* - what does this mean for me?
I understand that giving your own money to support Caution Phase is a BIG ask, so I'd like to stress that the majority of what you get on the channel will be 100% free. There may be some Patreon exclusive perks such as exclusive misc videos, access to the Patreon feed and Discord (check the Reward tiers on this page for specifics), but the majority of videos will be available to all without having to spend a single penny.

Any juicy Disclosure & Transparency stuff you'd like to mention?
While Patreon will likely be a primary source of revenue for my output on the channel, I might do a sponsorship here and there. These will always be disclosed upfront and will not influence the editorial integrity beyond the usual "This video was sponsored by..." deal. I'm very particular about who I work with and will not accept any sponsors that have a sketchy reputation or contradicts the channel's principles.

I've got a question that's not covered here?
If you have any questions or concerns that haven't been addressed here, send me a message on the page and I'll see about getting back as soon as I can!

Whether you become a Patron or not, cheers for checking my stuff out!
