Music is my life. I live and breathe music. You will always find me first thing in the morning, as soon as I wake up singing and dancing around the room. I hum all day long in the day job and i'm sure drive my colleagues up the wall with it all! I attend as many gigs as possible and just love the power that music has.

I am guessing that I may have painted a picture that I am a singer? I wish! Actually, I can't hold a note and can't sing to save my life! You will never catch me singing out loud in public, not even on a karaoke! No, no, no!

But what I can do is write a song - well lyrics.

Let me flash back a few years.

When I was 16 (and that is a few years - 16 years to be precise. At the grand old age of 32, that feels like a lifetime ago!), I was diagnosed with stage 4 Hodgkins Lymphoma and didn't think I could get through it, but I did. After some gruelling chemotherapy and 9 months of battling through, I made it to remission stage.

I carried on working a 9 - 5 job after this for years until I stumbled somehow into music management and artist development. This is a story for another time but one that I'm happy happened.

Through my love of music, I decided I wanted to write a song to reflect the experiences of cancer that I had been through but I didn't want it to be depressing or melodramatic and I definitely didn't (or rather couldn't!) want to sing it.

Writing the lyrics one evening in tears, I had a brainwave.

If I was lucky enough to know so many artists, then why didn't I ask them to look at my songs, turn them into co-writes and they could sing them?

However, when I presented this idea to one artist, they told me I could never and would never be able to release a song because I didn't sing and I couldn't play an instrument.

Well, let me tell you. I have the most stubborn personality in the world, so this only added fire to flame and I was determined to be as defiant and as successful as possible.

And the rest they say is history!

This is exactly what I did and where my journey as a songwriter began.

Since then, I have released a single 'Shatter Like Glass' by Angels With Dirty Faces.

This song will also be immensely special to me as it was the very first single that got released and debuted into the iTunes country charts at number 4 just behind The Shires and Ward Thomas.

The song was co-written with a very good friend of mine, Stuart Landon, lead singer of the band Angels With Dirty Faces who I now manage.

Following on from this, it all just spiralled and I cowrote with many different artists and released my debut EP 'Survive' which again debuted at number 4 on the iTunes country chart.

The whole project was self funded and a lot more expensive than I ever imagined it to be for independent, unsigned artists.

I spent a year of living at home, pouring all my money into the production and the story and making it the best I could, raising awareness with social media campaigns - after all I was unknown as a songwriter and needed this to do well to prove to myself and the world that I could do it - and then spent money on a launch party to officially launch the EP to the world with all the profits being donated to my local cancer hospice Douglas Macmillan.

Now, as a more established songwriter, I am wanting to spread my wings a little further. I have built up so many contacts internationally and feel that I finally have the chance to be recognised and taken seriously as a songwriter within the industry and I would like to record my next EP in the USA.

I would like to head over to Nashville and Los Angeles to be able to write with some of the top named and respected writers and to use some of the top producers, instruments, recording studios and really make this the best it can be.

Everything that I do in life, I try to do with 110% passion, commitment and hard work and I want everything to be something that I can be proud of and have no regrets over.

I want people listening to the music and the lyrics to really connect with the song. I want them to laugh, cry, feel inspired, feel the pain and know the story. I want them to experience my journey with me.

I appreciate all of the love and support that I have received so far. No one will ever quite know how grateful I am to have even reached this stage and I hope I can take my journey to the next level.

Thank you for being a part of my journey just by reading this and I hope I can show everyone who has ever doubted themselves or been doubted by others that you can always achieve anything you put your mind to.
