When I was a little kid I used to love to watch NOVA on PBS. The segments that filled me with the most wonder were those about pioneering scientists like Anton van Leeuwenhoek, who were largely working outside academia.

I graduated high school and dropped out of college before going on a 5 year "Rumspringa" and them deciding to go back to school.

Now I'm a 29 year old senior majoring in Biochemistry and Molecular biology and double minoring in Math and Physics.

I've been working on my home lab for two years now, and every spare second and cent I have goes into it.

Now, in an effort to realize the goals of activists like Aaron Schwartz, and the now mainstream success of open source computing platforms like Linux, it's my goal to help spur a growing similar open source science revolution.  Where once computer science was something designated only to the initiated, I want to bring about that change in the physical sciences.

With your support, we can make more videos, on more topics, spend more time crafting tutorials, and bring science to the lives of more and more people around the world.
