We invite you to help support us in our mission to bring you the first EP in what we intend to be a series of recordings of the original compositions of Lya Melzer as performed by the David White Orchestra.
Lya Melzer first fell in love with jazz as a child growing up in Romania, where she spent her summers on the boardwalks along the Black Sea, attending the performances of the great American, French, and Italian musicians of the time, including the peerless Louis Armstrong.
She carried her enthusiasm for music with her as she traveled throughout Europe, eventually crossing the Atlantic to New York City, all the while composing hundreds of original songs and hoping to revitalize the music industry with a sound inspired as much by the masterpieces of the Great American Songbook as by klezmer, rock and roll, polka, chacha, flamenco, bossa nova and blues.
Taking the name of one of the jazz bands she saw in her native Romania, Lya founded her own record label and conservatory of music: Electrocord, Inc.
