About Dissecting Athletics

Hi! I'm Tayseer Mozaffar, the creator of Dissecting Athletics. [If you'd like the juicy details about why I'm on Patreon, skip ahead to paragraph 3!] At the moment, Dissecting Athletics is an extremely small YouTube channel, and that's about all there is to it. HOWEVER I have huge plans for this channel and I expect my passion for sports comedy and gaming to propel me to and through my goals. As a comedy channel, obviously the first priority is to put a smile on people's faces and occasionally make them laugh so hard they have to grab something to avoid falling off their chairs. The gaming portion is also an opportunity to build connections with people around the globe. Long story short, video creation is an excellent way to help people enjoy their lives a little more.

If you've been keeping up with Dissecting Athletics, you already know about our Wednesdays. Wednesdays for us is all real talk, no fun and no laughs (mostly). Wednesday is the day that we talk about important issues and start conversations that can be (hopefully) deeply meaningful, in contrast to the perhaps fleeting enjoyment from the rest of our content. So yes, Wednesday talks can still be a tool to help people enjoy their lives more, it just takes a little more thinking and a little more effort.

So what's the point of all this? Well, let's start with Charity of the Month. Through Twitter polls, we select one nonprofit organization every month to be the recipient of our donations. Like I said, we're here to help people enjoy their lives more. But not just people who regularly watch YouTube -- I want this to include cancer patients, the homeless, and all the people who have run into extreme misfortunes. With the power of the internet, we have the chance to be a part of improving their lives too. Obviously, you can go ahead and donate to these organizations on your own, and that's all good! But sometimes the hardest part of donating is that we forget. Honestly, this project started as a reminder for myself to be more giving. But with this platform that I'm trying to steady myself upon, I realized that this could work on an even greater scale. So really, this is just a way to remind people that there are opportunities to give back to the community, just in case it's not something you've thought of recently.

I apologize for making you read all this, but when dollar signs are involved, trust is the most important thing. I want to be absolutely transparent and, well, that's going to take some nitty-gritty details.

Quick intro for those who are unfamiliar with Patreon: So as you can see on this page, there are donation tiers with corresponding rewards. Your rewards are dependent of the level you donate. Simple as that. Keep in mind these are monthly donations and not just a one-time donation, however you have the power to cancel your recurring donation at any time.

Let's be very clear about this platform. The money DOES NOT go directly to the organization if you donate on this page. I will, however, add a direct link in the description section of the Charity of the Month video on Dissecting Athletics' YouTube channel. Like I said, the main focus of this project is to be a reminder to help out, so if you donate directly to the organization, I still consider that a perfect accomplishment on my end. The only drawback for you is that you will not be able to receive the monthly rewards.

So if the money doesn't go straight to the organization, where does it go? Welllllll it goes to me. Here are the steps I'm taking to prove to you that your money will go where it's supposed to go: 1) Separated reward tiers for charity donation and channel support (we'll get to that). 2) Number of patrons visible to the public 3) The total will be confirmed by someone in the featured organization in one of Dissecting Athletics' videos at the beginning of the next month (this is most likely to happen in the future when a nonprofit can actually endorse the project). 4) If I ever did something with the money that I wasn't supposed to do, it would be obvious since this is so public, you'd sue me real quick and my life would be over. So it's not exactly well placed if it were a scheme.

Hopefully that is a good enough place to start the trust. Updates will be made to improve transparency throughout the process.

Finally, you will notice that there is a separate tier for channel support. As you know, YouTube is a public platform and my content there is available for free to all viewers. Although ad revenue allows creators to receive some income from their videos, it's not always enough to continue to improve content quality and to ensure that a creator can feel comfortable going all-in with their channel. Some viewers, perhaps like yourself, may so fully support a creator that they would like to donate directly to them. So if you are one of those people that read all the way down to here, I really appreciate it and hope you do consider a donation in support of Dissecting Athletics. Every bit helps to keep the free content coming. Make sure to check out the rewards to see exactly what you can get in return for your support!
