A dollar is great! I've always told my kids, "that's one dollar that you didn't have a moment ago." Giving a dollar would be amazing and would get a really big thank you from me, my email and answers to any questions that you have about writing, self publishing or character development.

Here's Who I am and Why I need your Help!

My name is Drew Bankston. I'm 62 years old. All of my life I've loved writing. I remember when I was in second grade, writing stories for my classmates and recording them to create a sort of audio play. I was hooked right there! Over the past three years, I've written ten books and self-published them all. 8 fiction and 2 non-fiction. I love writing family friendly books. It's kind of my trademark. But I'm getting ahead of myself. Allow me to start back a little farther. (Harp music plays here for the flashback...)

Around 20 years ago, I teamed up with a friend and we created an incredible novel surrounding two enemies that had to work together to correct historical inaccuracies about their worlds. I always like to throw in things that have never been written about before, so in this story, one of the main characters, Permac Sudé, comes from a planet where everyone can read and influence the emotions of others by just thinking about it. The other lead character, Linsora Anselm, can't do that, but she has a surprising way of knowing when she's being influenced. (I can't tell you what that is, because, well, I don't want to give it away!)

Anyway, I tried to get the book published, but publishers would tell me that it was too big (smaller than Harry Potter) and that first time authors wouldn't get a book like this published. Fast forward to three years ago! I self-published the book as a part 1 and part 2 in a trilogy. The book is titled, "The Eyes of Tokorel" with book one being "The Color of Emotion" and book two, "The Taste of Emotion". The books have done moderately well and here's the interesting part; 100% of the people who read book one, love it and ask for book two. 100%! I'd like to let you read chapter one so that you can see the quality of writing is there. If you want to do so, please click here and it will take you to read chapter one. And if you click here, you can read the Amazon reviews about book 1.

Now, I don't have the resources that big publishing house has for a number of things that I need to do get the word out there. Oh, I use social media a lot. Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/Tokorel/), my author's Twitter account (drewbankston1) along with LInkedIn, Instagram, Tumblr and now I'm learning to use SnapChat as well. But what the big Publishing Houses have, is a big budget for creating things to help books along. One request that I've consistently had, has been to create audio books.

"So how would you use the money," you ask?

As I mentioned, I've had a large number of people ask if I can turn my books into audio books. That thought really excited me, and if I was connected with a large publishing house, it might have already been done. But, having friends in the radio industry really gave me some connections to find out what I was getting myself into. Holy cow! I found out that to record my best book, "The Color of Emotion" would cost $2000. At first, I didn't think that was too bad. But then I started thinking about other costs that would be associated with this project. Artwork needs to be created, marketing, advertising, packaging, postage and so much more. I looked into the total cost and a way to do audio downloads, CDs and so on, and after all is said and done, the total cost turns out to be a hefty investment of  around $5,000 per book. That's if I have someone else record the books. Now, I've had a number of people tell me that I should record them myself, and after giving it much thought, I've decided that this is the way to go. It also brings the cost down to $600 to get some good recording equipment.

So, the money that I would ask, per project, would go toward the creation and assured success of an audio book for each one of the books that I've written.

"What's in it for me?" they inquired of the author.

Riches beyond your wildest dreams, or at least the fine rewards that you see on the right side of this page. Signed books, updates, first peek reads, conversations, digital downloads, recognition in various forms. It doesn't get much better than this. But if they ever open a Tokorel themed park, I'll see what I can do to get you and your family lifetime admission passes! If nothing else, knowing that you had a major part in helping a very positive author reach his dream of becoming known for his writing, creating universes that exist nowhere else and showed him that the world does have people who care. Thank you!
$0 of $600 per month
My goal: if reached each month will assure the creation of a professionally read audio book. Reaching this goal will allow me to create one professionally read audio file per month and be on my way to having a dynamite audio book to sell!
