Gernot Wolfgangis creating CD VIENNA AND THE WEST
About Gernot Wolfgang
Hello, and welcome to our Kickstarter Campaign! In 2015, my wife, bassoonist Judith Farmer, and I collaborated on producing a CD of my chamber music compositions calledPASSING THROUGH(on Albany Records). It received rave reviews and went on to be nominated for a 2016 GRAMMY® Award in the category Best Classical Compendium.
We are currently working on the sequel to this album, VIENNA AND THE WEST, to be released by Albany Records in early 2019 (in both CD and digital formats). The recording sessions took place from May 15-18 in Los Angeles and we are thrilled with the results! A group representing the crème de la crème of Los Angeles musicians recorded marvelous takes of six of my chamber music compositions, and now we can’t wait to finish the album and bring this music to you!

However, before this can happen, there is still work to be done. With this Kickstarter campaign we are asking for your help with funding Post Production, which means editing, mixing, mastering, the production of physical CDs and CD booklets.
VIENNA AND THE WEST acknowledges my deep Austrian musical roots, filtered through more than twenty years of experiencing the American West. My ongoing quest to integrate rhythms, (grooves), from musical styles such as jazz, rock & roll, pop, world music, and EDM into concert music idioms creates an additional musical layer – hence the album’s subtitle “groove-oriented chamber music, vol.4”.
