   What is Patreon?

Patreon is a subscription-based website where fans can support content that they enjoy. With help from fans, also known as Patreons, artists can receive the extra funding that they may need to finish their projects without having to take jobs on the side. This can lead to the projects you enjoy being released leaps and bounds ahead of schedule, more content being created, as well as better quality content, all thanks to your small monthly donation.

Don't worry though, you receive more than just better and more content. The subscription tier that you choose also grants you access to extra content such as bonus artwork, peeks behind the scenes, tutorials, the ability to get a glance at the creator's mind, and more.

What can I do for you?

I have been enrolled at the Academy of Art University for the past three years. During this time I have been animating small clips and practice pieces. I've gotten much better during this time, but now my ambitions have broadened. I'd like to challenge myself with a longer project, a full animated short.

I'm in the early stages of this project currently, but as I progress through the production pipeline I would like to open up the process for others to join. Below I will have a checklist which I'll use to mark my progress starting from the script creation process, to the final compositing stage. After everything is complete I will be uploading the final animation as a thank you to those who have chosen to follow this journey.

Aside from just following along with the creation of this film, I will also be offering the following rewards to my Patreons:

  • The ability to talk directly with me and watch me work through live stream.
  • A 50% discount on commissions
  • Tutorials
  • Your own custom gargoyle
  • Your name in the credits

Of course, I am still a student, so if anyone who is more experienced finds this page and notices errors on my part, I welcome and appreciate advice.

Your very own Gargoyle!
$5 or more per month only 200 left
Did you ever want to be an extra on the set of a movie or show? you can join this tier for just that!

Those in the $5 tier will be able to receive a custom gargoyle who will act as an extra in the actual film.

In addition to having your name put on the credits at the end of the film, you'll also have a short animated version of your gargoyle featured.

What the gargoyle does is up to you, you could have him/her dancing, sparring with another person's gargoyle, playing a video game on a bean bag, gardening, the only limit is your imagination, a time limit of no more than five seconds.

  • Why am I doing this?

There are going to be many gargoyles living around the main cast. I could design them all myself, but not only would that take up a lot of time which I could be using to build the world and plan the early stages of animation, but it would be a huge wasted opportunity. I'd rather open up the opportunity for the characters to be designed by you.

  • How will it work?

Everyone in the $5 tier will have their screen-name written on a slip of paper which I will then fold up and place in a container of some kind. On the first day of each month I'll shake this container up and draw two names from it.

From that point each person and I will arrange a convenient time to enter into a private chat to discuss details such as gender, age, personality, and most importantly, appearance. The topic of what a gargoyle looks like is a very vague one, there's really no wrong answer. They can honestly look however you want, as long as the design isn't offensive.

It's at this time that we'll also discuss what action you want your gargoyle to be taking during its end credits appearance, so please be thinking of this.

This prize can only be claimed once.

If your name isn't drawn by the end of the project, no worries, your character may not get a cameo, but he/she will still be in the credits. Once all the animation's line-work is completed and no more characters can be added, I'll start pulling multiple names at the start of each month, this way everyone will get their character created and animated for the credits.

At the end of the project I'll be sending the character sheets and animation files to anyone who is interested. This will be done through whatever method each person is comfortable with, be that Email, Facebook, DeviantArt, ETC.

What if life happens and you can't respond for months? I'll have a list of all the unclaimed winners on the front page, so if you've been away from the computer for an extended period and you come back to see your name, you can still claim your prize. If you happen to miss the opportunity to get your character a cameo slot, I'm sorry, but he/she will still get in the credits.

If you happen to miss the entire ending, meaning the film gets finished and released before you return, that would be really unfortunate. I won't be able to edit you into a finished film, but I will still create and send you your gargoyle and animation. I'll have my work email listed on the home page at the end of the project, if you've missed your opportunity to get your gargoyle in, you can contact me there.

  • What do you have to do?

All you need to do is be aware of when the drawings take place. If a name isn't claimed before the next drawing, I'll draw an additional one to make up for it.

Additionally, you should have an idea of what you want your gargoyle to look like and what he/she will be doing during the end credits.

Goals
$0 of $400 per month
Start Live Streaming

Once I reach this goal I will be able to afford a live streaming account.

I will then be able to add a once or twice a month live streaming event, at which I will answer questions, take requests, listen to any advice from those with more experience than I, or just talk.

I'm not sure if live streaming works this way, but if I'm able, instead of live streaming once or twice a month, I would ideally like to have a live stream channel open any time I'm working Monday through Friday from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.

This way my viewers could come and go as they please.

The ways in which live streaming would improve the value of this patreon page include:

  • The ability to communicate more quickly
  • Watching me draw or animate in real time
  • Following my thought process as I overcome different challenges
  • The ability to make animation and art requests
