Creativity is very important to me.  i was born on 1.7.76. Many speak of 1776 as being a number of freedom. Maybe that’s why I can never be tied down to situations and commitments that feel lacking in liberty. There is something to numbers. As Steven Pressfield once said “It’s airy fairy but it’s true.”
For some reason talents are bestowed differently to people. The best visual art I ever did was a chicken scratch of some train tracks under mountains and the sun. It was terrible. I could never paint or draw, so to creatively express myself I fled to music. When I was in 3rd grade I saw a substitute teacher playing trombone. So I decided to learn how to play. For a few years, I learned trombone and piano. I remember writing a song on trombone, and some original piano lines. Creating my own songs felt as good as playing songs that I had learned.
My twin brother got an electric guitar at 12 or 13 and I used to steal it all the time. My uncle taught me some chords on a camping trip. My first song I learned to play on guitar was “OH Donna” by Richie Valens. I began to take lessons and bought a book of beatles songs with lyrics and chords, and the U2’s Joshua Tree for guitar. That kept me busy for a while.
By the time I was 15 I had written enough songs to make a 6 song demo, which I made on reel to reel tape owned by a genius in a rural part of town. My dream was to have a band with my brother and another friend. I don’t know if it was lack of discipline, but my musical ambitions never took off in high school, even though I took an instrumental lab class and I was able to bring my guitar to school every day and work on songs! One of the people in that class is now a successful singer songwriter. When I was 20 I had my first three piece band. We had one gig at Aroma cafe in Santa Rosa. Than my car petered out on the way to rehearsal, and we stopped playing. I moved to LA the next year and did open mics.
Life keeps going on and I tried out for bands and continued to jam into my 20s but nothing came to fruition. I did record a demo with a drummer in san francisco, and when I was 25 I recorded a few album with the drummer from my first band, Darwin Knaggs. The next year I took my first trip to Europe and wrote a lot of songs in Ireland. A few years later, I moved back to LA again and played a lot of music. I was commited, and joined a band which we called the Dirty Suits. With that I had many incarnations of bands in LA.
In 2015, I came back to my hometown of Santa Rosa and played with a drummer and a bassist. We recorded an EP, did a few gigs, and I went back to LA in 2017. As of now, I’d love to have a band but I don’t want to stop making music in the meantime. I put out music under my band name Buffalo Traffic.
As of now, i record music and just enjoy getting it out there. I'm working on releasing an EP this summer, of 3 songs.
