About Jill Griffin

Hello! Thank you for looking.

Watercolour? Watercolor?....whichever way- it's gorgeous!

I live and breath watercolour: I just cant help myself, despite watercolour being the hardest of media to master- probably! And I can honestly say that in the 30 years (and more!) that I've been practicing, I have never stopped learning, how exciting is that?

A story of my creation...

I began painting and drawing at an early age- I truly cannot remember not creating art. Art is me...I am art.
I was educated at senior school to advanced level in art, but my career path took me into medical imaging and painting was kept on the back boiler as a hobby until I carved out a couple of hours a week to attend an evening class where I could paint without the pressures of family life. I also began exhibiting with the local art group and selling my work.

'For me sharing my work is incredibly important- after all what is a painting with no-one to look at it?'

I have come a long way since those evening class days and my work is now represented in a number of galleries and slowly but surely I am becoming established. I also exhibit with a wonderful group of artists at pop-up galleries, collaborating in making things happen together.

With the advent of social media and online gallery portals I have been in a really fortunate position to be amongst the pioneer fine artists making their careers in a very 21st century way and it is with a sense of new meets old.

That's why Patreon appeals to me greatly- I can share my work, journey and development via a mini-blog with genuine and wonderful people who also have a passion for art- and patrons have been a part of artists lives, careers and success for centuries. I think that's very cool.

I love to teach watercolour technique to my small group of private students and my Patreon supporters have helped me provide them with the same quality materials as I paint with. I still need help to be able to present my work to galleries finished professionally and properly framed.
I can't play with the big boys wearing my little girl socks- to coin a phrase!

'In the future I want to be able to say 'YES' I am a fulltime artist'

I want to make my living from art, from sharing my art. I want to share my work with a wider audience and collaborate with more artists to make things happen together in our fine art world.
I need to be able to devote my time to expressing the world as I see it and to encourage my students to develop their own skills and artistic practice.

Lovely supporters just like you are helping me along way.
You, are making this happen.
You are a true human doing...not just being.

I hope we can do great stuff together, and have a brilliant dialogue along the way.

You can see my Online Gallery here to see exactly what I get up to!

Goals
$5 of $15 per month
I spend very little on workshop material for my students simply because I can't afford to share the good stuff and they so deserve better...$15 a month would enable me to provide much better quality materials for the watercolour workshops I run, meaning my students can enjoy much much better results, be more satisfied with their work AND feel utterly valued...I love them and want to show them that I do. I'll share regularly their paintings so you can see their thrilled expressions when they make something they value.
