Hi Everyone,

My name is DeAngelo Wilson and I am currently a Personal Trainer and Group Fitness Instructor at American Athlete Fitness in Lehi, Utah. I hail from Richmond, Virginia and have found my way to Lehi, Utah by way of Burlington, Vermont. For those of you who are wondering, yes that's a lot of traveling. My quest to discover and share new and creative ways about fitness and living your best life has taken me to places that I would have never thought I'd be. Nonetheless, I am equally blessed and lucky to have so many things to share with you.

I am a former USA Bobsled Athlete and retired collegiate sprinter. I have been an athlete most of my life and all of my adult life. I attended college at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia, where I studied Management (Facilities Management and Event Planning) as well as Sociology. Since graduating in 2006, I've kind of bounced around the "professional world" searching for the one career that I thought would make me happy. Fortunately, that never happened.

Along the way, I've gained experience in many industries including the High-End Car Industry, where I bought and vehicles (your neighborhood Car Salesman), the Service Industry as a Server, the Olympic Sports World as a Bobsledder, the Childcare Industry as a Toddler Teacher, and more recently I owned and ran my own Manny (Manny = Male Nanny) Service. The awesome thing is that each and every one of these career paths, at one time or another, made me extremely happy and taught me valuable lessons about people, myself, and the world around me. 

Nearly 6 months ago, I decided that I was going to return to my true loves; Health and Fitness. But this time I wanted to do something completely different. So I decided that I was going to sell everything that didn't fit in my 2004 Volkswagon Passat Wagon, drive over 2,000 miles across the country and start over with nothing but my dog and my experiences. This time I wanted to offer something that most individuals were either afraid to or were conditioned to avoid. I wanted to become human again and help other people to become the best versions of themselves without asking for a dime.

As an athlete, especially if you have competed at a high level for a number of years, you can become vain, arrogant, and guarded in regards to what you share about yourself or allow the outside world to see. As humans in today's society, we're taught to keep our intentions secret, keep our relationships private and to never share our failures. So, like most, you quantify your worth based on what you "think" you deserve, not based on reality.

Unfortunately, this is the same thinking that many have in regards to life and especially fitness and health; which quite frankly aren't exactly enlightening or fulfilling. In an effort to become more vulnerable and inclusive, I have decided to post ALL of my workouts, good or bad, across ALL of my social media platforms FOR FREE. I also will continue to share my personal tips, thoughts on life and fitness, and also my gym failures and bloopers. 

I've always felt that most things involving improving yourself shouldn't cost a dime, so I will continue to develop (dream up) and implement fun and creative ways to become more physically fit by promoting living and leading a healthier and balanced lifestyle (whatever that looks like for you personally).

In addition to creating sustainable and malleable personalized and group training programs, I also run a food and lifestyle blog called KalieDeeScope.com. In this judgment-free space, I share my personal thoughts on health and fitness, mental and spiritual health, as well as my favorite recipes and places I frequent. My blog is currently under construction and will be mostly about my take on fitness, food, and spirituality and the intersections of the three. Stay connected for the release date. It WILL be SOON!

The idea behind sharing my training programs publicly is to not pump myself up but to help motivate my clients (friends and family) to become the best versions of themselves but to also help them to create their own personal healthy narratives. Narritives that are uniquely engaging, inspiring, and individualized to their personal fitness journeys. My thought is that if a person can take control of and write their own story, in life, love, and in spirit; the end results are much more rewarding than having someone dictate it for them. I truly do believe that and this belief is the foundation of what I am doing.

I have a wealth of knowledge in the realm of the Fitness and Nutrition based on my personal experience and learning from those who I worked under but I want to gain even more. I will be the first person to tell you that I don't know everything and I repeatedly express that in my Instagram platform and as well as my clients. Which is why I am currently enrolling myself into continuing education courses in order to become a Certified Personal Trainer. After earning that certification, I also plan to enroll in Group Exercise, Strength & Condition, Basic Nutrition, and Medical Exercise Specialists certification classes.

If you have done any research or have briefly looked into any of these certifications, you notice right away that many of these certifications can cost in excess of $700. It's my goal to at least be certified as a Personal Trainer by January 2019 But I cannot accomplish this goal without you. So I am humbly asking for any donation that you can muster. I want nothing more than to continue to share my workouts for FREE and to furthering my education, so that we all can get better together.
