In 2011, at the age of forty-one, I was diagnosed with Stage IV Metastatic Breast Cancer. It was a total shock since I had none of the risk factors and no family history of cancer.

I've written all my life but didn't pursue it seriously until I began One Sharp Dame in 2008. After my cancer diagnosis, I began to write almost exclusively about my disease and my treatment. What started as a tiny blog just for friends and family has turned into a must read for hundreds of cancer patients. I've been featured on Women You Should Know and other news outlets.

Every year, tens of thousands of women like me are diagnosed with end stage breast cancer but there is very little information and even fewer firsthand accounts of what it is like to live with a terminal diagnosis. I am writing this book about my disease and my treatment in hopes it will help other cancer patients and the people who love them.

The side effects of four years of cancer treatment have left me unable to return to my previous career and unable to earn a living. I get by on a small veterans disability pension tied to my wartime service. With your help, I can earn a living wage while writing this book and together we can get this work out into the world where it can help thousands of others.
