About Kim Vanderheiden

Kim Vanderheiden is the owner of Painted Tongue Press, a multimedia studio with a focus on letterpress that produces a line of greeting cards as well as other works of art promoting social consciousness and justice. Working with Kim are Bettina Pauly, who prints the card line on our Heidelberg platen press, Mitsuko Baum who holds everything together by managing the card orders and accounts, and Liz McCall, also a printer and assistant at the studio.

Painted Tongue Press
Our line of letterpress greeting cards feature beautifully detailed designs of flowers and animals, inspired by the flourishing world of flora and fauna. Each card is designed by Kim Vanderheiden and printed at the studio on a Heidelberg windmill press. The cards range from gentle sympathy cards to buoyant birthday and holiday cards to meet every kind of occasion.

Justice Conversation
At the studio, we also create work that addresses the foundations of justice and connection to each other. The larger the audience it reaches, the more it can contribute to the important conversations in our nation and world about the development of our justice systems, and our ability to see and love the humanness of each other.

$136 of $1,000 per month
Reaching this goal can give a sigh of relief. I can combine this income with our card line income to keep our operating expenses consistently in the black.
