Hi everybody!

We're Ryan (from Canada) and Amy (from Scotland) - dedicated word nerds and lovers of the English language. A couple of years ago, we decided that we would start a podcast where we each bring a new word to the proverbial table each week and talk about where our research into that word took us. The idea was to learn a little bit more about a tiny slice of our native tongue, and hopefully come up with something interesting, educational and entertaining for anyone who cared to listen along the way.

After recording our pilot episode, life proceeded to get well and truly in they way, and the project was shelved for around 18 months until we decided to resurrect it and give it a proper go. Now, a few months later - here we are! We've got our feed live on iTunes, Google Play Music, Stitcher, Spotify and just about anywhere else you could get podcasts, and we're super excited.

If you like etymology (the study of word origins and histories) and enjoy what we do, we hope you'll support our efforts and pitch in with whatever amount you feel is worthwhile.

Thanks!

You love words so much you're willing to support us looking at them and telling you about them. We can't actually properly express enough of our thanks and, frankly, amazement, at this fact, but we will definitely try with a personalized and heartfelt shout-out in an episode!
Word Nerd
$5 or more per month

In addition to our heartfelt love, thanks and admiration (and our public display thereof in an in-episode shoutout)(and the knowledge that you've helped two starving word nerds do something they genuinely love to do) you'll also get access to occasional Patreon-only content! Maybe this will take the form of one-off mini-episodes where Ryan and/or Amy talk briefly about a cool trivia nugget that's cool, but not necessarily lengthy enough for a full episode segment (for instance: "episode" should be the name for these things, because the word comes from the Greek which originally meant "coming in besides", and which referred to interludes or interpolations that stood apart from the main story in a drama. Wasn't that interesting?), and maybe if plans come together properly, that will include article versions of each word entry for quick reference later on! Only time will tell!

(But what we'll tell you right now is we hugely appreciate your support!)

Goals
$60 of $100 per month
Meeting this lofty and ambitious goal would allow us to branch off into some more multi-media offerings to complement our podcast episodes. Ideas include commissioning custom artwork for each episode and possibly producing shorter, more YouTube-friendly video clips explaining the words we're tackling each episode.
