Civium Periculo translates as Citizens Endangered. Just as our Founding Fathers wrote the Federalist Papers under the pseudonym of Publius (Populace) in order to build support for the Federal form of Government, so am I writing about the dangers faced by our Democracy today. As Churchill said in the House of Commons:
Many forms of Government have been tried, and will be tried in this world of sin and woe. No one pretends that democracy is perfect or all-wise. Indeed it has been said that democracy is the worst form of Government except for all those other forms that have been tried from time to time.…
Democracy in America is currently under attack. This site is designed to help understand the attack and to help educate people about the history of Democracy and why it is so important to defend our way of life. Why history?
Progress, far from consisting in change, depends on retentiveness. When change is absolute there remains no being to improve and no direction is set for possible improvement: and when experience is not retained, as among savages, infancy is perpetual. Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.
George Santayana
History doesn't actually repeat though, not literally, but it does rhyme, and we are currently seeing the rhymes of some of the most horrible times and experiments in government coming to life before our eyes.
Tiers
Minutemen
$1 or more per month
Just as the minutemen were ready in one minute to fight for liberty, a dollar a month helps support the research for this site.
Sons of Liberty
$15 or more per month
The Minutemen were fighting for their land, the Sons of Liberty were the folks who helped discuss and architect the fight for liberty and democracy. At the middle of the month, everyone who is part of this tier will get a survey asking them for suggestions on what the next month's set of posts are focusing on.
Founding Fathers
$1,000 or more per month
The Founding Fathers are those who put their property and reputation on the line, they were the ones who had the vision to be able to plan for the democracy. Supporters at this tier will be helpful in providing  resources and  guidance toward what this site discusses.
Goals
$0 of $1,000 per month
When I reach $1000 / month we'll create a podcast of the blog posts to make it easier to share and listen to
