Hello and welcome to my page, my name is Carl, aka MrTieDye. I started this tie-dye journey almost 18 years ago when I opened a store called Indigo Child with Karen G.  We sold all kinds of handmade gifts, books, candles, crystals and incense, but we wanted to add something else to spice it up.  So we started doing tie-dye, Karen had done it before so taught me the basics and we were off on this wonderful adventure.  It only took 6 months of running the Book store out of our house for the Tie-dye to take over.  We soon took on a couple partners and moved to a location downtown where we sold mostly tie-dye and had some books and other gifts.

Sadly, we had to close the store a year later after moving it to a new town where it did not do as well.  BUT, that did not stop me.... I continued to play  tie-dye and eventually was given the name MrTieDye by 150 1st and 2nd graders who I did tie-dye with, but that is another story.

I moved out to Salem, OR in 2004 and started selling my tie-dye wearable art at the Saturday Market and various craft shows and music festivals.  My art has changed and grown over the years as I have played with so many techniques and processes.  I love this art form and continue to experiment and dream new things everyday.

I have always answered questions and helped other where I could, but after being asked for the third time in a short period if I have any videos, I decided to start making videos and posting them to YouTube.  I have had an account with them since 2008 and have posted a few things here and there over the years.  I posted my first 'how-to tie-dye' video on October 26th, 2017, at that time I had 12 subscribers and 2248 views.... just shy of seven months later I have post 80 tie-dye related videos, I have almost 3000 subscribers and over 195,000 views.  I am having so much fun creating these videos and helping people all around the World learn to tie-dye or to improve their skills.
