Nullsleepis creating Music
Nullsleep is an electronic musician and creative technologist based in New York City. His works evade the limitations of aging consumer electronics while emphasizing their unique sonic qualities. Employing out-of-date hardware alongside modular synthesizers and drum machines, his sound ranges from visceral dance music to architectural soundscapes that seem to exist on the boundary between utopia and dystopia. In 1999 he founded 8bitpeoples, a collective of artists creating music with early home computers and video game consoles in a deliberate rejection of the technology's planned obsolescence. His technical writing on programming music for the Nintendo Entertainment System was published by O’Reilly Media and he has been featured in WIRED, The New York Times, Frieze, and Vogue. Nullsleep has toured extensively throughout North and South America, Europe, Asia, and Australia. He is currently seeking performance opportunities in Antarctica while it still exists.
