Hello and thank you all for visiting my Patreon page! If you got this far it's probable that you came from one of my youtube channels or facebook page/group where I have been sharing free content for 7 or 8 years which means you probably know a lot about me already, have seen my videos, lessons, apps, covers and originals.

I professionally transcribe rare pieces of music (mostly for guitar) for which there is no available tab/score. I have a unique approach when it comes to transcribing, I'm extremely meticulous about detail. While most transcribers do a good job of showing you the right notes and making sure the music looks good on paper, they frequently omit nuance and subtlety from the player, and understandingly so, because it is an extremely difficult and specialized job that is extremely undervalued/underpaid. It takes hours and hours of listening to small sections of the music over and over to produce a score that is accurate enough, but the irony in this is that most people won't even be able to tell the difference in the end. The only person that can really tell the difference is another transcriber, especially if they have done a transcription of the work themselves. This leads most transcribers to oversimplify, they get good at working very fast, but the transcription suffers, in my opinion, from a lack of accuracy as far as conveying the player's subtlety and expression. They'll tell you a transcription is never going to sound identical to the original, so why bother? They just leave it up to the costumer to figure those things out during practice.

But, here's the thing: A transcription CAN sound extremely close to the original if the transcriber cares enough about detail and nuance, and, not only that, if the costumer is using a program like guitar pro to reproduce the transcription and this transcription was done with enough care about detail, the user is going to be able to grasp a lot of this subtlety and expression from listening to the guitar pro file (which they can do at a slow speed, isolate, transpose, loop, etc) and generally get a lot closer to playing like the original by practicing from a transcription that constantly reinforces to your ears the right sound that you are aiming for. Compare that to practicing with a transcription that sounds robotic, it contains the right notes but they sound robotic and lifeless...well, you are going to sound robotic and lifeless, or at least you are not going to get anywhere near the level of expression that the player put into the music.

To give you an idea of what my transcriptions are like, I have done videos where you have the original recording panned to the left and the audio from the transcription panned to the right, so you can hear them both simultaneously or individually and watch the video (if there is a video of the performance available) and they sound so close that it is sometimes hard to tell which is which. I don't exaggerate. (you will be able to see these videos and more if you join my patreon. There are issues with copyright that forbid me to share these publicly because they contain the original audio/video). Now, to be able to do this you not only have to have very good ears but you have to have the kind of ears that have been trained to hear minute differences in pitch inflection, rhythmic deviation, dynamics, timbre, etc, and you develop them by transcribing the way that I have been transcribing for decades, VERY meticulously. I did not compromise in any way. I did it for the love of the music because most of these transcriptions I was doing for me, not for sell, to learn to play something the way it actually sounded, not the way it was transcribed on paper by someone who oversimplified everything or couldn't even hear these inflections/subtleties that I'm talking about. If you can't hear it, you can't transcribe it.

I also create apps that feature innovative ways to learn to play guitar/music, fully integrated with video, audio and music notation all in synch, backing tracks and special animations and all the tools at your disposal with extremely easy access to make learning quick, fun and fully engaging. This ties in very nicely with the transcription side of things. The key here is that me, and my team, are constantly innovating, we are very clearly headed in the direction that learning music will be happening in the future. Stay tuned for that. I also write songs (shred/fusion/blues genres) on a regular basis, record them and produce them.

Patrons' support would be very instrumental in allowing me and my team to create content in a more consistent manner. By having a group of people that like to support me and my transcriptions, music or educational apps, I could focus entirely on creating and giving it 100% instead of having to constantly look for other sources of income that distract me from my music and creation process.
