About Phil Jones

G’day. I’m Phil.

I used to be a web design/ux guy. Did the thing for about 16 years or so. Then one day, in mid-2015, I decided that I no longer had the passion I once had for web technologies. In fact, I was pissed off with the industry. So I packed it all in, went back to university, got a job in a winery and, soon enough, a grog shop and followed a long held passion into learning as much as I can about the Australian wine industry.

My wine education, however, started much earlier than that. I was introduced to wine thanks to an uncle who was a wine buyer at a local country club. I was able to drink some extraordinarily good wines, and some extraordinarily bad ones, at a very early stage of my wine education.

I’ve studied winemaking and viticulture at university and currently manage a small, boutique wine producer in the Hunter Valley. I’m also certified WSET Level 3 and will commence my DipWSETstudies next year.

I keep a food and wine blog at http://pajones.com.au

My Food and Wine blog is only one part of the story. This Patreon page is where the real fun starts. Exclusive wine tasting notes, recipes and videos is just the beginning. Over time, I'm looking to include live streaming wine tasting events with my patrons as well as a beginner's guide to tasting wine that looks to demystify wine as well as help you understand the greater complexities that make the truly great wines truly great.

Most of all, I hope you get something out of it.

Cheers,
Phil.

When we have a community of 500 patreons, I'll hire an editor to help create more videos every month, with the aim to create two tasting videos and two cooking videos per month instead of one.
