"We can judge the heart of a man by his treatment of animals." (Kant)

We all know the town Srebrenica in Bosnia from world history: from the civil war in former Yugoslavia  and many atrocities committed there. Srebrenica is still suffering from the remnants of war, from lack of economic development and poverty and an extremely complicated political system. But Srebrenica's inhabitants are trying to make things better. Not only for themselves and their fellow humans but for the many homeless dogs roaming the streets and surroundings. A group of people living in Srebrenica are feeding the dogs every day, paying for the costs out of their own pockets. That in itself is a hard thing to do because of their low income situations. But they are also trying to keep the dogs out of the dog catchers' hands, who come to collect the dogs and destroy them. To be able to do that, they want to build a dog shelter. There they will be able to care of the dogs with food and medication and neutering programmes. They also plan to resocialize the dogs and rehouse them. To do that, they need a constant supply of resources.
