Guilty! Guilty! My evil self is at the door, and I have no power to stop it!

...Without your help, that is.

Who is Prof Morbius?

I'm pretty much an average guy. I watched the classic movie Forbidden Planet at a young age, instilling me with a lifelong love of science fiction and providing me with my pen name.

I love writing, and dream of one day becoming talented enough to be published. I might not be skilled enough yet, but I haven't given up working for it. Practice makes perfect, as they say, so I'm currently sharpening my writing skills by producing fanfiction, which is available to read at https://www.fanfiction.net/~profmorbius. Go ahead and check out my stories "Nanoha Genesis Evangelion", a Nanoha/Evangelion crossover; and "Fate/Parallel Fantasia", a Fate/Stay Night mega-crossover with a number of other anime series.

However, like my namesake, I am under assaulted by a monster born of my innermost dark thoughts. Withering doubt about my skill, crushing shame over what I've published, all-consuming despair over my ability to make something of myself. My monster assails me with thoughts that my writing will never be good enough for me to support myself financially, and I should give it up for a real job to make real money.

What am I asking for?

To be clear: you are not paying for my writing. My stories will continue to be published on Fanfiction.net, free for everyone to read, for so long as I am able to continue writing them. If you choose to pledge, you are sponsoring me as an artist, giving me the financial reassurance I need to decide to invest my time in writing fanfiction (and, hopefully, eventually my own original fiction). It's a vote of support for my viability as an author, a heartening cry of "Don't give up!".

This Patreon is set up for per-chapter payment, meaning your donation will be made each time I post a finished chapter. Under normal circumstances, I will aim to post one to two chapters per month. Life being what it is, though, I can't guarantee that there won't be setbacks, delays, or other assorted difficulties. You only donate when a chapter is completed: if I don't post anything, you don't pay anything.

It is possible that the miraculous fortune might allow me to post more often than anticipated. If you don't want to worry about unexpected charges, you can set a cap for your maximum contribution per month.

What do you get for donating?

Every time I post a new chapter of fanfiction, it will be accompanied by an exclusive Patreon post for backers. In these posts, I'll talk about how my writing is progressing, what's coming up next chapter, exclusive behind-the-scenes extras related to my current story, and maybe even some discussion about future projects down the pipeline -- fanfiction and original fiction that I hope to write once my current project's done.

Why am I asking for just one dollar? Because this isn't my end goal. I'm not looking to retire off of the dividends from my fanfiction. All I'm looking for is motivation. A way to silence the inner demons that tell me I'm pouring out my soul and getting nothing in return. A token of validation that my writing is not worthless. Just enough of a push to convince me that I can actually do this for real.

Thank You

As thanks for your support, you will be able to access my Patreon-exclusive Morbius's Lab blog posts. Each time I publish a new chapter of my writing, I'll also publish a blog post containing info about what's been going on in my life, behind-the-scenes info on my current work, a sneak preview of the next chapter, and sometimes discussion about other projects I'm working on. Avert not thine eyes.
Goals
$2 of $100 per new chapter
If I'm able to attract a hundred fans, it will bolster my confidence in my writing enough that I will begin posting samples of my own, original fiction monthly on my Patreon blog. The first step on the road to becoming a real writer!
