Rev. Lahoma Howard is both a sociologist (currently writing her dissertation for her PhD), and the pastor of Mercy Street Fellowship - a street level mission in Reading, PA that works with the community on issues of homelessness and poverty.
Come chat with us over coffee about all things pertaining to the emerging kingdom of God.  We will entertain the idea that perhaps modern technology, science, theology, and spirituality are all things that can work together, and are necessary to create the "good society" that is the dream of God in action for our world.
We will be discussing a wide variety of topics as we bear witness to the emergence of the Kingdom right here in our midst. Manifested through our willingness to do the work of Jesus Christ through our concrete actions, and by sharing love, kindness and mercy. Content will include live Q&A sessions, in addition to pre-recorded podcast, live video, theological and sociological discussion sessions on current events, and book/literature reviews. Interviews with people who are out there in the trenches, "Feet on the Street" living and doing the work of Jesus in all sorts of tangible, practical, and truly helpful ways will be a regular feature of this series as well. We aren't here to evangelize you, try to convince you to join a "church" or to tell you that you are a sinner who needs to convert or change in any way. We are here to tell you that the Kingdom of God is a real thing, we find it in community, in helping, sharing love, forgiveness and acceptance, in actually being Jesus to those around us.

The Coming of the Kingdom

Luke 17:20- 22
20 Once Jesus was asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God was coming, and he answered, “The kingdom of God is not coming with things that can be observed; 21 nor will they say, ‘Look, here it is!’ or ‘There it is!’ For, in fact, the kingdom of God is among you.”
$23 of $500 per month
When we reach $500 in monthly income, we will solicit the community for suggestions for their favorite charitable organizations, all recommendations will be placed into a random drawing. A charity will be selected via this drawing and 100$ will be donated to that charity on a monthly basis. Additionally - each time we hit another $500 in income (e.g. at $1000, $1500) another charity will be chosen and 100$ per month will be donated.  Our goal is to use 20% of the total income to fund charitable organizations that are chosen by our patrons. 40% of all income will be used to help fund a number of local missions including Mercy Street Mission ( )  If we reach a sufficient level of patronage, we will work with our patrons to create additional community solutions and missions.
