Remort Studios is creating Visual Novel Art, Resources, and Bots

We want to make great visual novels, and help others do the same.

We already do this in three big ways:

First, we make, find, and compile tools and training resources.  This can be tutorials on techniques, tools to help you manage aspects of development and business, or resources to help you get started or push your project further.

Second, we help facilitate a place of growth and networking called Devtalk. It's a visual novel development community that's existed for nearly 4 years now and has brought together visual novel developers of many walks, content types and genres since its inception in the interest of making better visual novels, developing the visual novel as a medium and industry, and making the creation of visual novels sustainable.

Lastly, we make and manage visual novel bots. These bots, we call them personalities, promote the work visual novel developers are doing throughout social channels and help build a stronger visual novel developer network, as well as provide a constant feed of existing visual novels to help people within the network improve their knowledge of existing works.

Here's a couple things we've made already:

Experimental Marketing at Visual;Conference 2017, a talk on using testing to develop a better understanding of your project's strengths and weaknesses, and using that to refine messages and key visuals.

Crowdfunding Calculator, for developers who will eventually seek crowdfunding assistance.

Lemonchan, who is the face of Devtalk and seeks out, promotes, and signal boosts visual novel developers across Twitter and Discord, as well as provide visual novel look-up services on Discord.

Limesama who promotes more adult oriented visual novel content on Twitter.

Cherry who shares screens and links to existing visual novels with the world every hour or so.

Here's what we want to do:

We need your help, you developers and visual novel enthusiasts alike, to create new and better training content and personality features.  Our team is one half programmer and writer, and one half artist and designer.

A couple things we have lined up:

  • Narratives, Illustrated:  A series of 1-4 panel comics illustrating narrative tropes featuring our bot personalities. This will start monthly, twice monthly, weekly, and at its peak twice a week on our goals.
  • VN Tools: A set of spreadsheets, tools, programs, and eventually distributable bots personalities to help visual novel creators make their VNs, build their audience, and maintain their communities.
  • Guest & Live Lectures based off of our research, and the research of professional in the medium, including breakdowns of features, scene compositions, effects, and methods of reproducing them.
