Rebecca and Patrick Childress left Rhode Island, USA in 2007, and have been cruising aboard their 1976 Valiant 40, “BRICK  HOUSE”, since then. They and are currently in South Africa, and have no end date in sight. They are considering Uruguay and Tierra De Fuego next year, after exploring Africa for as long as possible.

Patrick completed a circumnavigation on his souped up Catalina 27, JUGGERNAUT, in the early 80s. He was a professional delivery captain, and ran a small house remodeling business after that...until he met Rebecca who had BRICK HOUSE, and bought in to the boat. He has been busy fixing it (and Sailing it) ever since!

Patrick has always been a Sailing teacher at heart. He has taught many a beginner sailor, but loves the trips he would do with Offshore Passage Opportunities back and forth between Rhode Island and Bermuda, where he would have the opportunity to teach experienced sailors how to cross oceans, often in really horrible weather, before they took their families off cruising.

Now Patrick enjoys making videos about Sailing, tips and tricks he has learned over the years, and repairs, and installations of the products that Rebecca introduces to him. Rebecca enjoys creating her blog posts, and figuring out how to support Patrick’s Video habit. She enjoys researching and documenting the ins and outs of out of the way destinations, and new and better products and upgrades for the boat, and many sailors contact her for advice on these things. Sometimes she even makes a video about questions she gets about a particular part of Sailing Apps! She enjoys interacting with other sailors and welcomes your comments and questions.

This level would support the internet data we need to buy, in sometimes really expensive places, to not only upload our videos and content, but would start to support the money we spend in keeping our equipment running and ready!
