Many of us are secular people. We know that the public schools of America are no longer capable of giving our children a high standard of education. Thus we are forced to look towards the private sector.

What do we find when we do this? Religion. Everywhere!

Well as a current member of the United States Air Force, I have been all around the world, and I for one am tired of seeing other countries have children who are thoroughly educated without being forced to be religiously indoctrinated and not having the same privilege at home. I want to have a good place for my children to get educated without being forced to home school them or send them to a religious center of illogical indoctrination in bronze age fantasy. So rather than simply complain about not having such, I decided to actually do something about it. I am getting out of the military soon, and this will be my next step in life.

This school (name pending) will have all the basic standards of education that are required by law. It will also have an extra class. Where the religious schools have a class for their religious indoctrination, this school will have a class that teaches the foundations of logic.

Yes, that's right. Finally a school will not just teach information but it will also teach the very critical process of how to arrive at true information. In essence, we will be teaching children how to think. I know, I know, that sounds bad (and scary!) when worded that particular way, but take a moment to hear the details before making an assumption.

We will not be indoctrinating anything. Rather what I mean by this phrase is that the ideals of teaching a child to form a hypothesis, test the hypothesis, and change the hypothesis if it is not confirmed will not be limited to science class for their yearly science fair experiment. We will be teaching our children how to think critically, what logical fallacies are, how to avoid them, how to properly evaluate their own ideas so that they can more often come to correct conclusions. This, I believe is a fundamental missing portion of education. We teach information and not how to properly arrive at it. Let's fix the problem.

Obviously this extra class teaching the principles of logic is most needed in the formative years. Thus once the elementary years have passed and children are in the middle school and high school age ranges, this period of the day will then be regulated to teaching our children about serious issues.

Politics, current events, and yes... religion. Not indoctrinating them in any particular political view, or into any religion but keeping them appraised about what is going on in politics, allowing them to hold intellectual discussions on these subjects. Religion will be a Comparative Religion class, where they will be taught about how all religions have similar themes, taught about the Jungian archetypes that permeate these religions, and how to find the flaws in logic that these religions contain.

We will not indoctrinate against religion any more than we would indoctrinate for it, but we will not shy from teaching about the logical errors inherent in them, allowing them to make their own decisions about what to believe after they have had sufficient education on them rather than being trained from a young age to believe on faith and faith alone.

Politics is something that it is necessary to get our children interested in at a young age. A wise woman once said, "If you don't do politics, politics will do you." We need more of our secular children running for offices and making legislation or else sooner or later the religious will get the reformations they desire, and America really will become a "Christian Nation". Because it doesn't matter if the number of secularists is growing in our country, if they aren't running for offices where they can propose bills to be voted on.

All pledges for this cause will be held in trust until enough money is garnered to facilitate the opening of this school. The expenses are many as licenses are required, land purchased, the school built and furnished and teachers paid.

Patrons who have donated over $1000 (either over time or all at once) will receive primary seating for their child once the school is ready to open. The higher the total donation the higher on the entry list said Patron will be.

Goals will be updated as needed in the process of the creation of the school. Long term goals will be opening more schools of this nature, creating an entire "chain" of secular schools for our children. Once schools are opened any further donations will be used to supplement the school's income, in order to lower the required fee's for attendance. We anticipate having to have fees due to the facts of reality (teachers will need to be paid at competitive rates after all, if we want good ones) and while unfortunate, we do intend to do everything we can to make the education as affordable as possible.

Any businesses that wish to donate, we thank you for your support. If you wish to contact me about a possible "reward" system for you feel free to send me a message here.

Everyone, join me in the effort to give our children quality education without religious indoctrination! A place where our children will not feel pressured by their peers to "believe" or teased or ostracized for not believing.

Being at this level for a few months will allow me to purchase high quality video cameras and microphones. This will enable me to create Youtube videos that can assist us in getting the word out so that we can spread awareness to other members of the secular community about our goals.
