Hello there! I am known as Captain Zenscuel by some, but my real name is Ian. I have spent the last several years working on in the privacy of my home and corner of the Internet this little, wonderful rulebook for a game I've come to call Starlight Journals. It's a rulebook seeking to establish the idea of a future with a brightness to it and establish a love of exploration in the universe. This is a soft science fiction tabletop RPG that uses the percentile system of rolls. Characters are established as one of the ten available species, ranging from humans, human aliens, selective bioshapers, grays, robots, space bugs, space spiders, goos, and a few others. They can come from a myriad of home worlds and backgrounds and engage in astounding adventures.

This game is not yet another depressing trip to an unequal dystopian future of cyberpunk or a RPG that encourages criminal behavior among its players. Instead it offers a positive outlook, but dangers and horrors still lurk in the hearts of man, alien, and the unknown alike. Perhaps even in the hearts of the players, but that is far from the only option they are encouraged to take. In this universe, species cooperate in larger, system spanning empires, but only a tiny fraction of this vast galaxy of the milky way is explored. Untold planets still await, untapped and unexplored. Within explored places, the United Planetary Council, a unifying factor of these empires and the free states, attempts to keep its members at peace. But underground movements always stir, either outside or within this space. Beyond the borders of spacetime, there also exists malevolent powers that seek to undermine the standard of living and the very lives themselves of those within this place. There is much to do, explore, fight, and exploit.

The core rulebook is Feature Complete. Content will primarily be establishing the some more basic gear for vehicles and starships, writing descriptions, and finalizing the GM+Lore chapter details to be more helpful. I'll be releasing Beta Core twice a month hopefully. After that, I'll be releasing supplements once they release beta stages, at which point I'll release them in blocks at twice a month.

Planned Supplements:
Frontier Logs: Additional Vehicles, Colony Management, Vehicle Crafting, and Sector Generation for GMs.

Heroic Sagas: Added rules for Heroic Level characters, Heroic Classes, Heroic Psychic Powers, Heroic Abilities, and the like.

Secret Arts: Eldritch explanation, modified damage types, modified psychic powers, and more details on the Watchers.

GM's Guidebook: Additional details on common monsters, threats, PMCs, and more on running an effective game in Starlight Journals.

Rebel's Remains: A large campaign involving the fall of the Defender's of Solsia and rise of the Republic of Solsia, setting the stage for the next large political development in Council space.

Red as Steel: A Campaign set in the Steel March to further elaborate their culture as well as set the stage for their future relationship with the Farethi.

Planned Cores
Gaslight Journals: Set on Argenash, a planet of steam and magic, the city of Orissa serves as the hub of the trade and industry, where pollution is just a sign of progress. This is a fantasy-steampunk game setup with a similar d100 but a different statistic system. Come become a Seeker, trying to discover the secrets of a city built by the Avatar of Knowledge.

Imperial Records: Set in the so-called Eternal Empire, become the Hand of the Empress. This is a juxtaposition core, set as the enemies of the Council in their efforts to unify their divided country with a firm hand. A bit darker than Starlight Journals, this sets the players as alien secret agents attempting to put their failing Empire back together under the new, all powerful, immortal Empress.

War Stories: Join the Shintari, the vague traders and their Worldships, only hinted at in details of Starlight and its Supplements, as they lead the war against the Harvesters, galaxy devouring beings obsessed with their own purity. But can they hold together the fragile alliance of the Council, the Eternal Empire, and the Steel March long enough to destroy the Harvesters? Play as one of the unique aliens of the Shintari, or bring in your favorite species from the last two core books.

I will host a campaign of Starlight Journals for you and your friends as a proper campaign, not as a playtest venture. I'll do my best to keep it going for as long as you're willing to keep paying.
