My name is Taylor Lake and I write stories. A simple premise without seasoning or twists that I’ve been working off of for over a decade.

Hello, and thanks for considering me among the many fine folks out there. I’ll be honest, I’m not expecting a whole lot. I’m not really here for the money, and I know that’s not what I’m asking of you anyways. Instead, what I’m hoping you’ll donate is your time and attention, and that’s no small thing to request. We live in fast world, and there are hundreds of thousands of writers out there right now, most of them working for free as I’ve done for years. A great many of them are probably a lot more talented than I am. So why here, and why ask? Because what I’m trying to find is an audience, and what I’m trying to earn is support. And I’d like to do that by writing stories with thoughtfulness and quality.

First and foremost, everything that I write is done from a position of respect for my readers. I believe that the best part of reading is giving the reader just enough to let them create their own vision of the work, and enough background to make it stable. On the other hand, you can expect me not to leave you hanging on important plot details and characterization. I do my best to think about what I put down, so that if you’re asking questions, it’s not “who’s that?” or “when did that happen?” I like to make my readers think, but I want you to have every possible tool to draw informed conclusions. I also put my writing through the editing wringer at least once, often three times. I believe a professional writer owes it to their reader to make sure the copy they put out is as clean as it can be.

With those things in mind, I write stories across many genres. I tend to write adventures more than anything else, though my greatest joy lies in writing private eye detective stories. I’m not a prolific writer, but I want to do my best to get out one solid short story every month. If enough people would like me to do so, I may also share experimental writing (poetry mostly) and other things I dabble in, but overall the core of this patreon will be the presentation of one short story per month. This is a tentative first step into a much larger writing world, and I hope I’ll be able to earn your support and trust as I take it.

Writing Buddy Access
$10 or more per month 0 patrons

Editorial Board Access
$15 or more per month 0 patrons
You get to suggest a story for me to write twice a year and I will write it. My only condition is that you lay out the framework and not the whole story for me. Otherwise, you’re better off writing it yourself. Believe me, I know you can do it. Note: This is about as high as you should reasonably be giving me. Really. Unless you’re rolling around in cash and using $100 bills to dust your mantle. And even then, maybe not.
Goals
$2 of $15 per month
With this amount, I’ll be able to save up to hire someone to make me a website and maintain it. After that, it’ll probably go towards saving up to get something small published.
