Hello and welcome to our Patreon page.

You are probably wondering who we are.

TheGuardiansOfDemocracy.com is a transpartisan organization of citizen journalists and grassroots activists tasked with delivering the truth and defending the fundamental tenets of democracy, while also working to create new dimensions of democracy, new avenues of autonomy, and new expressions of coexistence in an effort to recreate a sense of wholeness that allows us to transcend our environment and move forward with the aim of creating positive change in our communities and the world.

One of the key tenants of our democracy—the right to strong, free, independent media—is being sorely tested by a minority group encouraged and led by our President, Donald Trump.

Attacking the media and discrediting honest reporting has been the hallmark of many authoritarian regimes including that of Adolf Hitler. By taking away the credibility of the news organizations that are the key watchdogs of government, would-be dictators hope to substitute themselves and their regimes as the only sources of vital information.

We have not experienced an attack of this nature against our own media organizations, including some of the finest in the world. In addition to constant barrages of negative commentary, this destructive movement honors and promotes shady news organizations that alter news or invent and distribute fake news.

Our country’s greatest enemy, Russia, has a massive fake news organization in Moscow that created and/or distributed over 150 million false news stories and items to Americans via social media during our recent 2016 election.

The purpose of the Guardians of Democracy Foundation is to help reverse the trend of audiences accepting and believing fake news by a significant portion of the United States population.

We are looking for fellow advocates who will help us build a team of investigative journalists to probe and publish the real stories behind the altered stories promoted by the Trump administration or other organizations that would benefit by spreading false information.

According to a recent study by the Knight Foundation, 40% of Republicans say news that casts a politician in a negative light is “always” fake news. Therefore any substantial results from real issue that aren’t positive fluff are disregarded.

Because of the sheer volume of news developments—real or invented—there is a critical need for more investigative journalism into stories behind the stories and stories that haven’t been exposed due to a lack of research capacity.

We want to help fill that role, and as one of America’s prominent online political news publishers we are in a unique position to do it.

We urge you to join our effort by signing up as a Guardian of Democracy Patron today.

With your financial support, we can continue to focus on the stories and ideas that matter to you.

It falls to each of us to be those anxious, jealous guardians of our democracy.Embrace the joyous task we have been given to continually try to improve this great nation of ours because, for all our outward differences, we, in fact, all share the same proud type, the most important office in a democracy, citizen.

Ultimately, that’s what our democracy demands. It needs you. Not just when there’s an election, not just when your own narrow interest is at stake, but over the full span of a lifetime. If you’re tired of arguing with strangers on the Internet, try to talk with one in real life. If something needs fixing, lace up your shoes and do some organizing. If you’re disappointed by your elected officials, grab a clipboard, get some signatures, and run for office yourself. Show up. Dive in. Persevere. Sometimes you’ll win. Sometimes you’ll lose. Presuming a reservoir of goodness in others can be a risk, and there will be times when the process disappoints you. But for those of us fortunate enough to have been a part of this work, to see it up close, let me tell you, it can energize and inspire. And more often than not, your faith in America – and in Americans – will be confirmed.”
