Hello everybody! Thanks for taking the time to read about my Patreon.

I've thought about setting up an account a few times but never really felt I had anything to offer worthwhile. But after putting some serious thought into it I think I've come up with something that everybody would benefit from. I love sewing mouse pads and wallets and phone wallets and Field Notes covers out of leather. I have some fantastic embroidery software in Wilcom e3 that allows me to make any design I want that can be embroidered into leather. Using aplique techniques and some modern design approach I think I can really make some pieces for people that will not only last for years but look fantastic.

Leather is a media that can be tough to work with, you don't get second chances when you sew with it. Once you blast a needle into leather, the hole is there to say, no mulligans. I try and get as much used leather as I can and upcycle it into something a new owner can use. I go to many different sources to gather unique and relatively low priced pieces of leather that others have discarded. Giving new life to things is a great feeling, I love the whole process.

My idea for my Patreon is if you subscribe you'll be put into a category that I take names from and randomly select a person and send them something I've created. Be it a mousepad or a wallet or whatever, I'm fine if people wish to be put into categories so it helps increase the % of you getting something you want and will actually use. I love creating things, useful things, so this is what I'm driven to do. If you like leather made items then this Patreon is definitely something you want to keep an eye on.

I've been sewing for only a few years but I have the equipment to pretty much make whatever I want, I am not the best at it and I have a ton to learn but I enjoy sharing the process. I'm going to be releasing videos on YouTube and hopefully people find them interesting and most importantly helpful in case they are trying to make something themselves. I'm going to make mistakes, things are going to break, not everything is going to go well. But I'll make the end product work, I won't produce garbage. It might not be what I set out to fully create, but it'll get close. The more I work and produce things the better I'll definitely get.

So this behind the scenes access will be where I share the bad cuts of videos and the other mistakes and horrible language that I use when I'm measuring, cutting and sewing. I know the item I am making isn't going to be the last thing I do, so I am okay taking a failed project and thinking 'well that was a great six hours spent making this broken piece of shit' and setting it aside and moving to the next project or idea or different approach to the problem I'm trying to solve and then sew together.
The bottom line is, if you stick with me on this Patreon and you like what I make and you like the style of the items I'm making, eventually you're going to have one shipped to you, from me.

All I ask, to be apart of this is to give me a dollar. This puts you on the list while you are apart of the monthly cycle, to give you a chance to have your name pulled out of the list and I send you something that I have created. In my minds eye I would hope it would be something useful to whoever receives it, I'll try and make that happen as much as possible. But if I'm making iPhone cases and you only use Android or vise versa. I'll attempt to contact the person to verify a shipping location but also if you aren't going to use something to adjust what is being sent so you receive something of use, for your support. I just can't guarantee that is possible though.

I can't say enough how much I appreciate any person giving me a dollar, to me, who learned the value of a dollar pretty early in life, I see it as a big deal to take your hard earned money and give it to me just to help support a hobby that I love. The minor support compounded, adds up to something great; and I hope you get as much joy out of the things you receive as I enjoyed crafting and creating them.

An automatic skiver machine would be an awesome addition to my shop, you use a skiver when you are folding leather and need to reduce the thickness of the overlapping leather. You manually can skive leather but it takes time and it absolutely is an artform to do a consistent skive on a piece of 10" leather. Automatic skiver is a massive time saver and it is always the same, no hangover slow downs or previous bad nights to keep it from doing it's job. Automatic skiver always shows up to work 100% ready to go and the exact thickness every time.
