About

I love creating from wood, often incorporating other materials, and sharing the process with others.

My current project started early 2020, and is a Japanese style lantern. It's based on the one I saw in a film directed by Akira Kurosawa and starring Toshiro Mifune.

These films will be my inspiration for the Patreon builds this year.

The main Patreon project in 2019 was an East Indian Rosewood writing slope (which you can now watch above). This was quite a long project, and those this year should be much quicker.

In this age of power and speed, I like to remember how things used to be done, and mainly use hand tools. And I love to educate and encourage others to do so too, by showing both projects big and small, and tutorials on how to use and look after tools. That said, I'm no Luddite, and use power tools as appropriate to the job.

My Cre8 series of builds mixes up materials, re-cycles, and pushes a few boundaries for me. I hope it inspires the weekend DIYer to try something creative.

I'm also building a video series on wood species available to woodworkers. With thousands of timbers available, it's nice to try something new. Seeing how they look and perform before ordering could save you wasting your money.

My public YouTube videos, Instructables, and website content are free, and I aim to keep it that way. Ad revenue goes a little way to funding the time to share what I do, and any patron support will help me to continue sharing into the future.

In return, patrons can enjoy some rewards, and know that their generosity will help those who can't afford to donate continue to see the content I produce.

As much as I'd love your support, don't feel obliged to pledge if you can't afford it :-)

Advert Free Early Viewings

I would like to make ALL my new videos advert free for patrons, for a few days, prior to public release.
(Currently I do this with some from time to time, but it does involve more time at the computer)
