When I graduated university and started working in the field of agriculture, I found out that I can put some time and effort to help people in different regions of the world to grow food and make a business around agriculture. As time move onward the more I learned that I can't help everyone, after all I am one guy! but that changed when I started learning programming and made my first android app "Broiler Expert" which helps poultry farmer manage their farms and provide the tools and the knowledge to make it as easy and painless as possible I knew I can achieve more and made another one for Arabic students who study agriculture and veterinary but still need help understanding certain terms and glossaries "القاموس الزراعي". Then I was reading about open source software and realized that I can utilize this idea to start The Open Farm Project which gives access to those who need help especially in third world countries to the following:
  1. Free courses designed by professionals whom willing to volunteer and help others
  2. Books and Publications
  3. Bundle of open source software that other wise cost a lot of money
On the other hand, and generally speaking agriculture still operates on old technology and utilizing the advances we have in science and technology, so the second part of the project is to train students who study agriculture like (animal science, plant science etc..) on topics like programming, robotics which will benefit the sector as they will be more creative as they have the tools of creative thinking that tech developers have.
Goals
$0 of $50 per month
If I reach this first milestone I will create Android App for Arabic speaking countries, to teach them the proper methods of growing crops and how to make it a succeful buiseness to support their families
