Hi there! My name is Joshua Langlais. I am a photographer and interviewer, seeking to encourage peace and equality by highlighting our points of commonality.

What is it that divides us and pits us against each other? Why is there growing socioeconomic inequality? Why do people hate based on race, gender, religion, politics? Maybe if we focus on what we are for instead of what we are against we can learn to forgive differences and come together to work toward a common good. It's certainly worth trying.

In January of 2017 I began interviewing people about these things. I audio record those conversations and I take portraits of each person. Then I transcribe those interviews and publish them as interviews as A Community Thread. I also recently turned the project into a podcast.

I am so thankful for this platform and the opportunity it affords me to reach a larger audience. To date, finding funding and spreading the word have been my greatest challenges. I am hopeful that your support will help me reach more people with this reminder that we mean everything to each another. Thank you so much for joining me here.

$23 of $1,000 per month
By the end of 2018, I will have interviewed 110 people. I spend approximately 8 - 10 hours on each interview. That includes the time I spend with each person, the transcribing, photo editing, compiling the information, and publishing. I created a book from the content from 2017 and another one for 2018. And I will be having a local exhibition this December. I use my own money for all of this and I earn that by being scrappy. Raising this money will reduce my financial worries and enable me to put that energy toward more interviews and a more polished product.
