Thank you so much for being a patron of my work! None of what I do would could happen without your generous support. Join the club and enjoy my "reading list" of recommended music, books, and movies! Every week I'll send out a list of what I'm listening to, reading, or watching. You'll also be able to stay up to date on my upcoming tours and teaching projects.
Benefactor
$10
per month
As my benefactor, you'll have access to an ever-expanding private library of music recorded by yours truly that I'll add to regularly, as well as all of the benefits of previous tiers. This patrons-only library will encompass a wide range of musical pursuits - you won't find these tracks anywhere else! And in any new album that I produce, your name will be listed as one of the patrons who make my work possible.
Backer
$25
per month
In the world of Celtic music, a "backer" is an accompanist - like me! Without good backers the music just wouldn't be the same. By choosing the chords that accompany a melody, a backer shapes the mood and direction of a performance, and I trust my backers with this same duty. When I post polls to my community of patrons, backers will be able to vote and hold a privileged position in my creative process (in addition to all the rewards of previous tiers).

About

Hi! I'm Adam Hendey and I play traditional and contemporary Celtic music! Using guitars, bouzoukis, harmoniums and reed organs, tin whistles, my voice, and just about anything else I can get my hands on, I collect and share traditional folk music from around the world. I also compose original, instrumental tunes in the Celtic style.

I’d like to humbly invite you to join my community of patrons and help me make music for people to enjoy everywhere!

I'm so lucky to travel all over America with my best friends David Brewer and Rebecca Lomnicky as The Fire Scottish Band. Together we perform at concerts and folk music festivals, teach students of all ages at camps, arrange and record critically acclaimed albums. And eat lots of tacos.

Being a touring folk musician is a dream come true. I love that I'm able to meet friendly people from across the country, learn about the different ways people celebrate life through their music, share all kinds of stories and songs, and play tunes for people along the way.

Being a touring folk musician is a constant adventure. I've flown to the top of a glacier in Alaska with a guitar on my back, danced around a life-size replica of Stonehenge in Washington, dug my way out of a blizzard at California's infamous Donner Pass with a shovel to get to a gig on time, and I once wrote a song about a fancy horse for a bunch of young flutists to play. I've performed in 117°F heat.

Being a touring musician does not provide a consistent, stable income. I travel for more than half the year, usually for 3 months or more at a time, in order to share my music with as many people as I can. And while I am fortunate to pick up some gigs in the interim periods off-tour, there is no guarantee of steady income when I'm able to be home with my family.

I want to do more than just play music and sing songs for people - I want to create a community. I want to bring people together and create a space where we can share the stories of our lives and celebrate together through folk music:

U'm just going to get to my point now:

I want to make music in new, exciting ways. And I want you to join me.

In order to devote the time and creative energy necessary to developing my current work (both with The Fire and as a composer and performer) and pursuing new projects, I need a solid foundation of support. I would be honored and tremendously grateful if youchoose to become my patron.

Here's what being my patron means for you:

You will help an independent artist produce work for all to enjoy. Music, art, cuisine, craft, film, poetry, and prose - all around us are friends and neighbors who produce the content that we enjoy every day, and these pursuits are worth protecting and supporting.

You will enable me to pursue new projects. By supporting me with a reliable income, I will have the security I need to take creative risks and produce new, innovative music and material for you to enjoy. Patrons will have the unique opportunity to guide my artistic output with requests, commissions, and input along the way.

You will look behind the scenes at my creative process. How do you write a tune? How do you decide what songs to sing or scrap? How do you get gigs, anyways? Being my patron means that you will have access to all the details of how this folk musician puts his life together day by day.

You will be the first to know about new developments in my professional, artistic life. Where is your band going on tour this year? Are you thinking of recording any new music? How many different versions of a D chord can you play in DADGAD tuning on the guitar? All these questions, and more, will be answered for my patrons.

No matter where you are, thank you so much for visiting. I hope that I have the opportunity to share my music with you.
