I've heard a theory that a lot of people don't actually care about rewards for Patreons, that they just want a way to support the person they like for the stuff they're already getting for free (anecdotal evidence–this is true for myself and the Patreons I support). In my case, that would be my tweets, I guess.
If you like me and my tweets, and can spare the two dollars (or a little more) per month, hopefully you won't be too put off by my not promising a reward (which I'd end up getting too anxious or stressed out to deliver anyway, my brain is broken, sorry).
In the past, I've gotten occasional support for all this from fans like you, in the form of: purchases of my book and magazine, pledges for one-off crowdfunding campaigns, and donations. Now, I use Patreon to make that income more predictable, so that I can create more work without the anxiety of living hand-to-mouth.
I desperately want to create more funny and insightful content for the people who like my work, and the biggest impediment to my success is my anxiety, particularly about my often-dire financial situation. Any relief of that financial pressure, even by two dollars a month (I recently read that Patreon recommends $2 pledges over $1 ones for a bunch of interesting "turns out..." reasons) gets me closer to making meaningful work.
If you can support me, I would be extremely grateful, and I will do my very best to honor that support.
I love you.
