Jeremy and Alan are both educators and Science Fiction fans. We both felt that interest literature and reading were not emphasized enough in our culture. We also realized that there were a lot of great short Science Fiction stories out there not getting the attention they deserved. So, to try emphasize the importance of literature in our culture and short fiction in SF, we decided to invite guests from different walks of life to come and discuss science fiction and how it reflects on their careers and life experiences.

The result is freewheeling conversations that allow the listeners to feel like they’re eavesdropping on lively conversations among friends. We want to learn about our guests, our world, and literature in that way. We’re finding that everyone we talk to has something genuinely interesting and insightful to contribute to the conversation.

Essentially split into two segments – a discussion of a sci-fi short story and an exploration of a related idea or theme – our podcast covers classic stories by well-known science fiction authors like Ray Bradbury and William Gibson to comparably newer voices like Zhang Ran and Mary Robinette Kowal. Our guests include musicians, scientists, entrepreneurs, authors, editors, artists, and lovers of genre fiction.

In the end, we are most interested in having provocative discussions about our favorite genre with interesting people. We’re a couple of unapologetic sci-fi geeks who know a thing or two about literary studies.

Help us pay the basics!

We love doing this, but it isn't free! There are a lot of small costs involved here and there for hosting, websites, editing, and whatnot.

If the basics are taken care of, we can start making things bigger and better.
