Hey! My name is Alison, and I am one TIRED bitch. I'm tired of having to pitch pieces, and wait for responses, and play the whole game of shopping them around, only to ultimately get one out of ten ideas through to the writing stage. I'm grateful for the pieces I have been able to publish, but I have a long list of rejected and/or ignored ideas just waiting to get out there. That's where this Patreon comes to play. My goal is to be financially self-sufficient enough that I no longer have to rely on publications to publish me. If you like my writing, my voice, my "schtick", then this Patreon is for you!

In short: writing is a bitch, but it's the life I chose. I am deeply passionate about it, and only wish I had the funds available to make more time for writing exactly what I want to write and putting it out in the world. At this point, I don't really care how much attention I receive. It's more about writing for the people who really want to read me.

If you're new to "Alison Stevenson" here's a more legit introduction:

I'm a comedian and writer who has been fortunate enough to receive some popularity with my articles over the years. My breakout article is without a doubt, “Why I Don’t Give Blowjobs” (VICE). This piece went viral in a matter of hours, and sparked a national conversation about unfairness in oral sex between men and women in heterosexual couples. I still get hate mail for it!

Since then, I got louder. Much of my work mixes the personal with the sociological. I love dissecting human behavior, calling out bullshit, and I always try to be funny in the process. Other articles I've written include analyzing the modern state of casual sex, looking into what it means to be body positive and practicing self-love, musings on online dating, and even conducting experiments like having a therapist listen to me on a first date.

Outside of VICE, I've also written for The Guardian, Teen Vogue, MAD Magazine, Glamour, and more. As a stand-up comedian, I've performed all over the country at renowned venues and festivals. I made my debut television appearance on season 1 of Viceland’s stand-up television series, “Flop House”. I also made some notable podcast appearances, including being a featured guest on Dan Savage's "Lovecast". My comedy has been featured on Paste, Playboy, Grantland, Splitsider, Huffington Post, and Jezebel.

I've been working hard, but there's still so much more I want to accomplish. What I’ve experienced over these past few years is an outpour of both intense love and intense vitriol for speaking my truth. I have become inundated with emails and private messages from both women and men thanking me for what I’ve had to say. Women from all over the world have told me that I have helped change their romantic lives for the better. This kind of support is what keeps me going.
