About altNews

Our commitment at altNews.com is to bring you unbiased, non-ideological reporting on the most important topics of the day, including those which other media outlets are afraid to touch. Your support means that we can remain independent and publish the news without outside influence or interference. The continued shut down of views and information by big tech and the financially powerful means independent alternatives are more important than ever. altNews.com is not "alt-right" or "alt-left", it is simply alternative.

On corporate censorship:

The final report of the Church Committee in 1976 revealed CIA influence in foreign and domestic media:

The CIA currently maintains a network of several hundred foreign individuals around the world who provide intelligence for the CIA and at times attempt to influence opinion through the use of covert propaganda. These individuals provide the CIA with direct access to a large number of newspapers and periodicals, scores of press services and news agencies, radio and television stations, commercial book publishers, and other foreign media outlets.

In 2012, the US Congress passed the Smith-Mundt Modernization Act, effectively legalizing propaganda directed at the American people.

In 2019, 5 companies control 90% of the media.

Google, Facebook & Twitter, also under the influence of intelligence services both foreign and domestic, have transitioned from their role as platforms for a free range of topics and ideas to their effective role now as publishers, picking and choosing the individuals and content they will host and promote based on ideological bias and, increasingly, pressure from mainstream media.

Prominent so-called “independent” media companies also answer to a higher power. Vice Media, originally founded as an independent local magazine in Montreal, has since received hundreds of millions of dollars in funding, with stakeholders including Disney, Rupert Murdoch and George Soros. Vox, known for its attacks on independent YouTube content creators, is operating on $200M it received from NBCUniversal. The Snowden files are under the control of Pierre Omidyar, the billionaire founder of eBay and owner of The Intercept.

Meanwhile, truly independent media finds itself under constant attack. Demonization by the MSM, deplatforming, shadow-banning and demonetization have affected independent media outlets and content creators across the ideological and political spectrum. All that is required to get a target on your back is to be a threat to the established order.

altNews.com is designed to be an antidote to corporate and government censorship. The project is led by Nathan Stolpman, who, as a popular and controversial YouTuber and podcaster, has felt the effects of censorship first hand. His YouTube channel, Lift the Veil, was originally demonetized the day after it was monetized in January, 2016. The channel was terminated twice - once in 2017 after a series on Satanic ritual abuse and once in 2018 after covering the mass shooting in Las Vegas - and has had scores of videos removed forever from the platform for exhibiting “wrongthink”.

As a result of these experiences and seeing the direction social media was going, Nathan bought the web domain “altNews.com” in 2016 as a future safe haven for news coverage too controversial for YouTube and the web giants. Fast forward to 2019 and that future is here. Nathan and a web developer willing to donate his time have spent the last few months creating a functional site with independent news, exclusive articles and curated video content. Including the purchase of the web domain, hosting services and software, thousands of dollars and nearly 100 hours have been spent to get the site to where it is now.
