I'm an up-and-coming stage director based in Chicago, IL, where I am currently a junior in Columbia College Chicago's BFA directing program.

As a young director, most of the shows I work on are unpaid gigs. I juggle my class schedule with two part time jobs on top of rehearsals, which means I can usually only manage about 15-20 hours of paid work per week. I'm estranged from my parents and do not receive any help.

This is where you come in!  Any funds received will be used on day-to-day expenses such as transit, groceries, utility bills, cheap shoes to replace the ones I wore holes through the bottoms of and continued traipsing around Chicago in because I was afraid to spend money, etc! In all honesty, it's incredibly expensive and damn near impossible to become a stage director if you lack a financial safety net to see you through the mandatory ~free work~ phase of building a career. Successful opera directors almost always come from an affluent background. I'm firmly working class, and I'll kick the door down if I have to.

My current project, a production of Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro (by OperaRox Presents) is at the National Opera Center in Midtown Manhattan, NYC on August 21st and 23rd, with a live streamed dress rehearsal on the 19th.  Future projects will most likely be in Chicago, and hopefully more content will be available online for supporters to enjoy!

A postcard from wherever I happen to be! When was the last time you got personal mail that physically traveled from someplace else to your hands?? So exciting!
