"I'm a creator, with great big plans / I'm gonna build my world with these little hands
I'm a sorceress, and I cast my spells / into the endless void of the wishing well
I'm an ocean, pulled by the moon / I go back and forth, but I'm gonna rise soon."
- lyrics from "Cancerian"

I believe in the nurturing power of community healing and the transformative power of radical vulnerability.

I've been happily making music and performing for 10 years as a solo folk musician. I have found immense healing and serenity in putting my joys, sorrows, traumas, and triumphs into song and sharing vulnerable moments with others through performance. Collectively, we have all done some deep healing together.

Art of multiple disciplines and mediums has always been the mode through which I process the world. Ever since I can remember, I have always sought to create. For me, my original medicine was poetry, drawing, painting, photography, sculpting, filmmaking - anything I could get my hands on to give an outlet to my inner world, which always feels like a vast ocean yearning to ebb and flow freely. For a long time, music has felt like the most complete and gratifying mode of creating, but it is now apparent to me how important it is honor the whole of my creativity and all of its manifestations.

This Patreon, more than anything, is a tool for accountability to myself as a creator. I started this page to force me to create, and in return be supported by my community in my quest for health. The body is the conduit for creativity, and even though my body has become weak and fallible, I still must remain a creator at all costs, if I am to ever be healed.

So, with a renewed sense of life, I am re-committing myself to being a creator, forgiving myself when I fall off the wagon, and hopping back on with vigor.
My renewed promise to you, and to myself, is that I will post at least one song a month and one other non-musical creation. As a way to hold myself accountable, my Patreon now charges per creation, meaning that I don't get paid unless I make a post.

My Story:

I grew up in Seattle, WA, and have spent the past 7 years in Olympia, WA. For many years, I tried to put out a full-length album but always struggled to make it happen, after many attempts. Health problems, financial issues, and plain old life seemed to always get in the way. I really began to think that a real album was just not in the stars for me. I couldn't find a real explanation for why it was taking me so long, until 2015 when I fell incredibly ill after a lifetime of less-than-stellar health, and became disabled. For a year and a half, I was doubted by every doctor I came across. Told I was fine. Told I was too young to be exhibiting so many debilitating symptoms. Told that maybe it was all in my head. For awhile, I truly thought I was dying. Or going crazy. Or both.

In 2016 I was diagnosed with chronic late-stage neurological Lyme Disease and multiple other tick-borne infections. You can learn a little bit about chronic Lyme Disease  here, and I encourage you to do some research on this highly misunderstood pandemic. Mold sickness has been as debilitating as the Lyme itself. A lack of stable foundation has meant that I cannot yet undergo targeted treatment for Lyme, and instead I have been trying to strengthen my body to prepare for it. First, lack of income and environmental sensitivities led me to a journey of living out of a converted van tiny home around the PNW. I did improve a little bit with that move, and was able to release my debut album, Fern Canyon, in November 2018 on Spirit House Records. But after a few months of that, I found that the moldy climate was just too much for me, so I am migrating to the California High Desert to truly find health.

In my greatest act of self-love yet, I have left my home in order to survive. You can't build a house on a sinking foundation, so I have uprooted by body-home and moved on from the life I once knew and called mine. There is no going back. There is no returning. There is only the option to push forward and grow or to stand still and wilt, but there is nothing in my old life to go back to. The sooner I stop grasping at those vestiges, the sooner I heal.

If art has taught me anything, it's that there is much healing to be done collectively.
I make my art so that I can grow, and I share it with you so that you may grow and root and blossom and molt alongside me.
