My goal is to provide a conduit for folks from any background to access the latest discoveries being made in biomedical science without any fear of it being too complicated or inaccessible to understand.

I'm a PhD student in neuroscience at the University of Pennsylvania, and I study the neuronal circuitry underlying anxiety and addiction. One of my goals is to try bringing people closer to the science they fund through their tax dollars via regular discussions.

For the past several years, I've been Twitter's video live-streaming platform, to communicate topics in neuroscience and biology in real time via mobile devices. While impromptu live-streams have been very engaging, I've been hoping to be able to produce more personally tailored communications efforts because - while many of us have similar questions - not everyone absorbs the relevant information equivalently.

Any contributions will be allocated towards acquiring better equipment with which I can improve the quality and frequency of audio & video productions, and are deeply appreciated.

Goals
2% complete
In the U.S., approximately a third of all research is funded publicly through tax-funded grants.  However, for tax-payers to have access to the publications that result from the work they fund, there's an additional expense they must pay to read the resulting articles.

This is called the 'paywall'.  With the podcast and enriched live-stream interactions, I intend to reduce this separation between scientists and their citizen supporters.
