        About Arsène Hodali

I'm Arsène and I write martial-arts fantasy web novels, putting chapters online three times a week or more thanks to reader contributions.

I'm currently writing War Dancers, a dark fantasy romance about a demon girl, a human boy, a hummingbird, and martial arts.

Overall, writing takes 30 to 50 hours a week, I love it but it's hard work. Recognition and support from readers is what keeps me going.

But seriously, here's what the pledges are used for
        • Self-sustainability:  The pizza thing's just a jest, but it's serious in a way. We all need to live, being dead doesn't accomplish much. Every hour I choose to write I'm losing out on the ability to make money to feed and shelter myself and the chapters are thus supported by my own savings (everything costs something - if something's free that just means someone else is paying the bill). I'm not rich by any means so this plan isn't realistic. I would love to write full-time, so the chapters have to be able to sustain themselves.
        • Hosting & Protection: The site needs robust enough hosting and protection to support high spikes in reader traffic and malicious attacks so it doesn't do things that ruin everyone's day, like crash.
        • MailChimp & Facebook: The services I use to email posts out to the subscription list. These platform fees grow as the email list grows.
        • Web development: It's a website, so there are always upsetting glitches coming out of nowhere, and occasionally there are new site features added. I have this plan I'm working on where chapters will simply go straight to your phone when published. There's nothing complicated about that, but implementing it is. I'm trying to make it as easy as possible to just focus on what this is all about - the simple wonder of reading a good story.

        What's Patreon?
Patreon's a site that lets users make monthly subscriptions to specific products for specific rewards. In this case, by pledging you'll get early access to chapters and your pledge will buy me more time to spend on writing. As a result, I can release more chapters on a daily basis.

Do I need to pledge to read War Dancers?
No. It's completely optional and only meant as a way to show your support. The chapters will always be freely available online for all to read. The pledges are just a way to offer continued support if you're able to do so while getting something in return in the process.

Can I change my pledge amount?
Yes. Just go to the top right corner of the page and once you hover near your profile picture you'll see a list of options. Click on "Your Pledges" and you'll see all your active pledges, and from there you can make changes/edits accordingly.

        How does Patreon charge me?
Patreon accepts two forms of payment: PayPal and credit card. You can add your PayPal account to Patreon, and if you don’t have one you can add your credit card. Please make sure that your given payment account has the funds, isn't expired, etc., otherwise the pledge will be automatically declined by Patreon.

        Three chapters a day!!!

21 chapters a week. This'll be hectic, frankly I don't know how I'll pull this off - I'll be publishing 6,000+ words a day non-stop. Basically, I'll be spending every waking hour writing.

I really don't think this goal will ever be reached, but if so I'll quit my job and write full-time. This whole thing will also become an official business whose sole function is to cater to the readers 24/7/365.

Amongst a host of things (like books and audiobooks, contests and giveaways), assistants, illustrators, programmers, and legal aids will be hired. And people will have to be hired, because I won't have time for anything else but writing.
