About

In 2014, we lost our local library, it was one of fourteen to close due to austerity-driven budget cuts across our community here in the Welsh valleys. It felt like we'd lost the heart of the village.

With the support of local people and the art community we saved the building from being lost at auction. With a lot of help from many people we have been running the building as an art and community hub for just over 6 years. We are still here, even during lockdown - we moved some of our shows into our windows and actively engaged artists of all ages & abilities across social media by running accessible creative projects. It's getting harder to run as a business in these challenging times - and Coronavirus has made us even more aware of the impact on individual jobbing artists and local small businesses. We are having to be even more creative! But there is always someone there to lend a hand or ear, or someone to inspire us!
We are uniquely NOT publicly funded - we're trying to create a sustainable model for future artists and our community. We work closely with community, are a collection point for the Rhondda Foodbank and support local schools & groups- loving collaborative projects. We even won a Big Draw Award in 2019!
Support from our patrons is crucial to helping us to keep art flourishing in our community.

We'll be posting updates, content about our activities, events and exhibitions. We'll bring you exclusive offers, artist updates, comments and stories from our community members and we'll let you know how you can get involved with future projects before anyone else!

We can do a lot with a little - and we have some great benefits for our patrons...
