FOLK ARTIST FOR LIFE...
My name is Darci Jaret. I have made art my whole life, having grown up in an artistic household. Although never formally trained I enjoy art-making and create something everyday. I see expressing creativity as an act of devotion. Art in the Image evolved from this combination of devotion and art-making.
I live in Atlanta with my wife. We are foster parents and enjoy homesteading and raising chickens and bees. We try to live simply and not focus on material possessions. Instead we spend our time building interfaith, anti-racist community, celebrating Shabbat on Fridays and going to church on Sundays.
I serve as the Minister Artist-in-Residence at Park Avenue Baptist Church. I lead the creative community group that meets weekly and a bi-monthly event called the Creative Outlet that connects craft and theological topics of the sermon series.
Along with the workshops and conferences of Art in the Image, I sell my devotional art pieces and accept commission work. Sometimes I take photos at life events for friends and those who request it. I am also licensed to officiate weddings and enjoy crafting interfaith wedding programs, like the one that Amy and I made for ourselves.
