About

The Tiffin Box is a weekly newsletter about Indian food. I am passionate about preserving the history and the stories about Indian food and its authenticity. I want to tell stories about the origins of dishes and spices and ingredients; I want to showcase everything that is wonderful about Indian food and present it to the world.

We live in a world that has massive issues with regards to food; specifically with race, ethnicity, and cultural appropriation. I am tired of it. So I decided to do something about it as a food writer, as someone who patronises restaurants, follows the work of famous food writers and chefs, and as a consumer. I'm a food writer myself; I've written extensively about Indian food. You may have read my pieces about ghee in The Washington Postchikki and savoury Indian snacks, both in Saveur, vadams, vathals, and vadagams in Epoch Times, strawberries and cream kulfi in Goya, Bombay Toast and bread vadais in Bare (print), vadais in NPR, South Indian sweets for Paste Mag, and more.
